  • About this product:
    • This product entitles you to download both the digital PS4 version and the digital PS5 version of this game.
    • In this award-winning cinematic action-thriller, troubled author Alan Wake embarks on a desperate search for his missing wife, Alice. Following her mysterious disappearance from the Pacific Northwest town of Bright Falls, he discovers pages of a horror story he has supposedly written, but he has no memory of.
    • Wake is soon forced to question his sanity, as page by page, the story comes true before his eyes: a hostile presence of supernatural darkness is taking over everyone it finds, turning them against him. He has no choice but to confront the forces of darkness armed only with his flashlight, a handgun and what remains of his shredded mind. His nightmarish journey to find answers to the mind-bending mystery he faces will lead him into the terrifying depths of the night.
    • Alan Wake Remastered offers the complete experience, with the main game and its two story expansions - The Signal and The Writer - in stunning new 4K visuals. The tense, episodic story is packed with unexpected twists, heart-stopping cliff hangers, and intense bursts of combat where it takes more than bullets to banish the darkness. The game's cutscenes, quirky cast of characters, and the majestic Pacific Northwest vistas have been enhanced for an experience that delivers as much on its visual impact as its unnerving atmosphere.
    • If you already own the PS4 version of this game, you can get the PS5 digital version at no extra cost and you do not need to purchase this product. Owners of a PS4 disc copy must insert it into the PS5 every time they want to download or play the PS5 digital version. PS4 game disc owners who buy the PS5 Digital Edition disc-free console will not be able to get the PS5 version at no extra cost.

Wouldn't be surprised if this hits PS+ for free right before the second game comes out as a marketing tool. Sony has done that often in the past when a sequel or DLC is about to release.

After having replayed it twice before remake I'm not sure I can play it again.... but I guess if you have to choose buy this remake. The game isn't 100% about gfx, just for some story telling. The enjoyable part is the story, the gameplay is meh for combat but that's not why we are playing this game.

Haven't played the remaster but loved the original version, combat and all.

While the remaster increases the graphics and framerate, it loses a lot of the asmotpheric gameplay the original had. It's brighter at night and also has a lot less fog. I would just stick to the original imo and wait for AW2 later this year.

Play this before the sequel "Alan Woke."

Is that the one where you get a trophy for guessing Alan's correct pronouns

False, the atmospherics are greatly enhanced in this remaster. They are able to use far more realistic lighting and the fog is far more volumetric.

You know nothing

What? Literally look at any of the side by side comparison on youtube. The fog in the original game is way thicker. The devs did it on purpose to improve the clarity.

"You know nothing"

The irony. LMAO

I played the original on my OG XBOX 360. I recently played the remaster and IMO it still holds up. The intensity was still there, the jump scares still got me. I'm struggling to finish God Of War 2, however I ran through Alan Wake quickly. Also, Alan Wake 2 is coming out this year? I'd find it difficult to play the 2nd one without completing the 1st one

I own both and have played the hell out of both. The original Alan Wake had some graphical elements that clashed with each other in places, textures that didn't quite look good together. The remake resolves those but at the same time saps many of the scenes of their moody lighting, removing instances of fog and brightening things up overall.

Those things I can handle, the one thing I can't get past is it makes Allen look like a weird cartoon character. In the original, he looked like he genuinely hasn't slept in ages. I don't know what they were going for in the remake, maybe they tried to make him look more like his IRL model and failed miserably?
