Mint doesn't lock Pixel phones, so you can use it on any network right away.

Note you need to add some to the price for 12 months worth of the regulatory fees that they will charge at checkout. Probably $20 to $30 depending where you are.

Can probably resell the SIM but be cautious to tell the person they must port in a number within 45 days to get the 6 months free.

Yes, it works on all major carriers. Also, the GSM vs CDMA issue is almost moot at this point. Verizon decommissioned their CDMA network on January 3rd this year and Sprint decommissioned theirs in June 2022. So new phones, unless they are carrier locked for some other reason, should work with any carrier.

I went through checkout for a 12 month plan
My total cost would be 445.00
18.50 just for "recovery fee"
If I buy my own phone and bring it to a service I dont pay all these garbage add-ons

Recovery Fee $18.50
Taxes & Surcharges $37.56
COUNTY SALES TAX $12.63
STATE SALES TAX $12.63
NY STATE EXCISE TAX $7.93
NY MTA SURCHG ON EXCISE TAX $1.28
METRO COMMUTER TRANS. DISTRICT $1.18
PSCS - STATE PREPAID WIRELESS $0.90
FEDERAL UNIVERSAL SERVICE FUND $0.68
PSCS - LOCAL PREPAID WIRELESS $0.30
FEDERAL COST RECOVERY CHARGE $0.02
FEDERAL COST RECOVERY FEE $0.01

Total $445.06
You will pay the recovery fee/federal surcharges no matter what, that is charged on the service.

The rest is sales tax from your state/city etc on the phone, nothing Mint or anyone can do about that.

True but other people can have similar results and should check before they get a surprise.
I usually BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone) on Tracfone and don't have to pay these fees aside from sales tax. I've never seen recovery fee or "excise tax" on a phone I bought

I JUST bought the 7 pro deal last month, $599 plus $120 for 12 months of 10g. After all the taxes and fees it was $800 and change.

Do they offer returns? I don't think I've ever seen returns of phones offered which is odd.

Argh

intriguing offer but my 2020 moto g power works fine with verizon towers using the 25$ walmart plan. besides the camera and 5g i see no real benefit to upgrading. id actually be spending 107$ more for 12 months getting this. ive used a 5g phone and the speed increase is barely noticable.

if your paying 12 months of your phone bill upfront does this qualify for cellphone protection on credit cards (i.e. freedom flex)?

I personally can't wait to get rid of my Pixel 7 pro... Worst flagship I've had by a long shot. Definitely feels like a downgrade from my Note 20 Ultra. Went through 3 touch-sensitive screen protectors as it was a pain to type and hardly ever recognized taps around the edges, so I'm going without one and it still sucks. Can't get my fingerprint right 50% of the time and it took me hours to disable all of the data-harvesting default settings they're shoving down your throat from the very beginning.
Im having the same issue, not recognizing presses. I realized swiping up to go to home screen then back to app does the same. I just tried that by creating an account in the mint mobile app. Ugh.

Recovery fee covers USF, a federal tax charged on all interstate communications. Some MVNOs build it into the price, but their price is higher, so it balances out.

Same for your local taxes, some are charged on the phone, some are charged on service, some on both, depends on your state/city law, and NY is known to be one of the worst for those. I'm not aware of any MVNO building sales tax into any of their prices since it varies by state and city.

YMMV but generally no. I've heard of some getting them to cover it but the answer from every rep is different and no guarantee they'll honor what you were told up front.

If you might use international or extra data credits, you could just add like $5 per month to your mint wallet, but if the insurance wants to see a copy of your bill that wouldn't help.

I'd say if you're willing to get an agent to say "yes", keep a copy of that conversation, then fight the good fight if/when you need it, you might have luck.

The fine print on the cell phone protection specifically says you must pay your monthly bill with the card.

If you have more than 1 line you can join them in a family plan and pay in 3 month installments. I'd say that might have better luck, but still not fully adhering to the terms.

Returns are 7 calendar days only. But you got a good deal on the pro.

If it works fine without screen protector, look into other brands of protectors. This was common with Samsung phones when they changed the touch technology and integrated the fingerprint reader too, until the screen protector companies got their act together.

Did they ever make a Pixel 7A w/ a headphone jack or did they discontinue the A series?

Jumped into the water too after missing out on the previous $339 Mint Mobile deal for Google Pixel 6a back in Aug. Got the 10GB for $419 plus recovery ($20.50) and fees/taxes for CA ($30.80), which totaled $470.39. PayPal showed the same amount, so no discount/break seen versus regular checkout as reported by another SDer.

This will be my first flagship phone for the first time! Coming from the MetroPCS by T-Mobile $25/mo unlimited plan, so the justification was $170 out-of-pocket for a new top-of-line Android phone ($470-$300) after all said and done. Will miss T-Mobile Tuesday app promo, unless Mint Mobile gets bought out by T-Mobile in the near future.

Lastly, did TCB click-through for $10 CB, hope it stacked.
Thanks for satisfying my curiosity about PayPal charging for all the taxes. I'm not sure why they didn't collect taxes from me. But in case anyone thinks I'm FOS, here are a couple of pics. My Mint statement and my PayPal activity.

Nice save there if it holds true in the end. Lucky for the rest of us...NOT =)
