This is a "clicky" keyboard, so don't know if your Huntsman that you have is "clicky" "tactile" or what. But if this is an office environment where others may be opposed to "hearing" your typing (pretty loudly), this one may not be the best option for you. I have this one, a Huntsman and a Blackwidow, all clicky because I personally love the sound and feel. But I also work from home and the only person who has to be bothered by the sound is me.

If the noise isn't an issue, then I will say it's a bit of a challenge getting use to the travel (or lack there of) of the Ornata compared to that of the Huntsman/Blackwidow. The latter two are my daily drivers, so when I do happen to go back to the Ornata from time to time (not every day), the quality/accuracy of my typing does take a bit of a hit. I also notice that my fingers kinda hurt when I use it for prolonged periods of time because I think I try to click down "harder" with the Ornata (because my fingers are just used to pushing down more given the longer travel on the Huntsman/Blackwidow) due to the less travel.

Ultimately, I do really like the Ornata, but given that you already have a Huntsman, you may find yourself in the same situation as I find myself in if you're consistently going to be swapping between the two. I hope that feedback helps.

I'm on Mac too and I was looking for various Mech keyboards recently that were compatible for Mac.

I ended up getting a Keychron K2 V2 on Amazon and it was Mac compatible out of the box, with the proper command and option keys installed. It comes with extra key caps for Windows too, so somebody can swap them out whenever they want. There's also a switch on the side of the keyboard to switch between Mac and Windows. Mac is the default out of the box.

You can choose the key switches you want. They have Red, Blue and Brown.

It all comes down to individual personal preference. I ended up getting the brown for myself and I'm happy with that choice. It's the best keyboard I've ever had. It's a joy to type on.

The model I bought was about $100, but they have other models for cheaper and others more expensive. It all depends on the options that somebody chooses (steel frame, wireless, hot swappable, RGB, size of keyboard and number of keys etc.).

Can anyone chime in how this would be for office work? I got a $200 Razer Huntsman V2 for my home computer and love it, but there's no way I'm spending another $200 for the office, or taking the keyboard back and forth with me, so looking for something similar that I could type on for hours.
If you like to annoy your coworkers with your keyboard, go for it. It is loud. I do not recommend for an office environment with coworkers.

I think the real question here is. Do I have to use razors poo software? Might as well be gaming on steelseries still

Thankfully I'm in my own office. If it becomes an issue I'll just shut my door. With that said, my keyboard is already pretty loud (though it's a POS) and I haven't had any complaints.

Oh okay. Well that's good. I had this keyboard in my office and I felt so bad every time I typed. The other comments about the keyboard are pretty spot on. The key caps are low profile and the switches are pretty heavy. It comes down personal preference and/or just getting used to it. Another concern, I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but reportedly razer peripherals install software in the background so if you're using a work computer and can't install third party software, the keyboard might be flagged by your security team. I don't know what to do for work but I thought I'd just put it out there. This was a while ago, so I don't know if this is still a thing.

wish we had the option, ever since the razer giving admin rights "feature" (https://www.tomshardware.com/news...rivileges) they only let us use office-supplied keyboards. amd they're all the free/$1 option that come with HP/Dell desktops.
make sure your office is ok with using personal keyboards, particularly ones with USB ports/attempts at self-installing software

It's been this price for a few days now (weeks, even). Good deal on a good keyboard. We picked one up for my wife a couple weeks back and I liked it so much when I first used it yesterday, that I ordered one for myself this morning. No longer available at B&M stores near me, though, so will have to wait until it ships.
Delivered today despite estimates saying it would be in a week's time. Nicely done, BB.

That's kinda concerning, would be a big big issue at my old job... Man, what are some of these companies thinking when they design "features" like this? Appreciate the input, this is why I love the SD community.

I use the logitech mx keys for my office, i used to run a solar that have quieter keys but couldnt justify the cost at the time. I have a mx mini at home for casual typing and a corsair with cherry keys for gaming.

I have this and used at multiple big corporate jobs. Literally just tell the razer software no once and it's never asked again. IT never companied.

You can also set the RGB settings on a home computer and it typically will remember those settings.

I used the v1 of this keyboard for like 5 years as my daily driver gaming/web browsing and have no complaints. Very comfortable to use for me with a lot of nice rgb options.

I have the Razer Ornata Chroma Model RZ03-02040200-R3U1. Unlike ariusvideo, I don't have other keyboards that I switch between (not counting two laptops), so I'm afraid I can't provide many relevant comparisons to other keyboards. But like ariusvideo said, this membrane keyboard was manufactured to feel and sound like many mechanical keyboards, meaning it's on the noisier end, and you may annoy coworkers if you bring it into the office. I believe other keyboards that are actually mechanical (i.e., more reliably built) with quieter switch designs and/or o-ring dampeners may be more suitable for your use case. Note however, that I have yet to have anything on my Ornata Chroma fail despite using it virtually every day since I bought it on sale for $79.99 in Nov. 2017. Based on some Razer technical spec pages, not all Ornata Chromas support rollover. I've never experienced any problems with mine though.

If you want to control the RGB or customize many of the keys, I think you will need to use Razer Synapse. I use Razer Synapse to create RGB profiles for my Ornata Chroma. I use AutoHotkey scripts to configure hotkeys. I believe Ornata models have a default RGB profile that might potentially run as long as it has power (i.e., Razer Synapse not required), but I can't say for sure. One annoying thing I initially had to deal with was the keyboard reverting to a default, breathing RGB profile when my computer is locked. I don't remember exactly how I did it, but I was able to configure my primary profile to shut off all keyboard lights (except for the numlock indicator) when my computer is locked. Note that because of the relatively shallow keycaps, compared to many gaming keyboards, almost all of the RGB illumination appears between in the spaces between/around they keys. Light does shine through the keys themselves, but it's insignificant compared to how much light is visible between the keys. This doesn't necessarily bother me, but I did notice this difference compared to some of my friends' fully-mechanical RGB keyboards.

I will say, after a while, I don't even notice or care about the RGB, though some illumination is handy since the print on the keycaps is translucent (not white, like on some black keyboards). It can be fun to tinker with at times, but I largely don't notice it anymore. I also don't game much, or use my keyboard for most of my gaming, but if I had to buy another keyboard today, even though I haven't had any issues with this one, I would probably look for one that had really good reliability and allowed for full removal/customization of keycaps, and some extra buttons for assigning more unique hotkeys.
