This is tempting and I thought Google Fi uses multiple carriers when roaming?
*Also, any idea how much taxes and fees would add up approx for 4 lines?
**UPDATE: A friend of mine told me in TX for the 2 lines unlimited data plan for $80 the taxes and fees are $18, which is A LOT! So I imagine for 4 lines, those would be even higher.
Not that bad actually. Been using this plan for nearly a year, and the fees on top of the $80 for four lines is only $15.96/month. I'm in Kansas.
If international roaming in Mexico or Canada matters to you, best to get cricket. This gives you tethering but so does visible.
I never knew Cricket had Mexico/Canada included in plans so I checked. They only include it for NEW 10GB plans, not existing 10GB customers? What? So I'd have to cancel and port my number elsewhere, then port it back to Cricket just to get Canada/Mexico coverage? That just means I'm leaving Cricket to get Canada/Mexico...
the people who still had the cricket 5 lines for $100 all got forced to move to a new more expensive plan a few months ago. are you sure you're still paying $100 for 5 lines with cricket. check your latest charge.

The cricket equivalent of this plan is the unlimited - 4 lines for 100 all in. It includes the roaming.
4 lines under the 10 gig plan is 110. Doesn't make sense.
Just a FYI, Idaho has the cheapest fees/taxes for wireless service of any state. If you set your home address to a random location in Idaho and enroll in paperless billing, your taxes/fess will be MUCH less. Taxes/fees for Idaho is less than $10/mo for Fi with 4 lines.

No such thing as a tax free state. They may not have sales tax, but they make up the revenue in other taxes (income, property, ect). But in this case Oregon does have the 2nd cheapest state wireless tax in the country.
In NYS here and have 3 lines with Google Fi. Here is my monthly breakdown for Taxes & Regulatory fees
Taxes & Gov Surcharges
County Sales Tax -- $1.56
Local 911 Surcharge -- $4.20
State 911 Tax -- $3.60
State Taxes -- $1.56
Other Fees
Federal Regulatory Assessment Fee -- $0.33
Federal Universal Service Fund -- $3.87
State Excise Tax -- $1.14
Total -- $16.26
Simply Unlimited Plan -- 3x$25
Total Bill $91.26
And this is why I don't live on the east coast anymore. Every town/county/municipality adds random fees. Pretty soon youll have to pay tax for each pair of shoes you own there
I am not super happy with Fi, but it is OK. I have their 'Unlimited Plus'. I am looking for 1) Data included abroad (India) 2) want to receive calls and make calls on/from my USA number 3) Calls to India from USA. Fi fits these requirements (although - 2nd requirement is not free if you are not connected to wifi). Pls share if there are other options.
How would this compare to Cricket four lines $100 including all tax on the AT&T network ?
I've had Cricket for 8 years now with no issues - but I am always looking for a better deal.
You may save a few bucks, however if you have had no issues I would consider not making the switch because Fi uses TMO and the underlying carrier makes a big difference in your quality. While TMO has excellent speed in metro areas, there are still many rural and lower density areas where coverage is just piss poor and they use b12 to bandaid it which is horribly slow. But if you are a city dweller, it shouldn't matter. If you are really interested TMO has a 3 month test drive, so you can use that to test the network and see if it works for you..
As for a better deal, you could go to the AT&T $300 prepaid which if you use cards is like $22 a month, except it is limited to 16 GB + rollover however it does get good priority and more importantly has no limit on hotspot (whereas Cricket has no hotspot in that plan) as it consumes your data no different than regular data. So if hotspot is important to you, and you don't regularly go over 16GB this is a good gig.
You can also buy prepaid Cricket cards when Target has sales, so you could shave 10% off your bill with little effort.

You have two easy options:
1. You can purchase bulk time from GV. India is 0.02/min outgoing only. Free incoming. You can also use it for any country.
2. You can ask relatives/friends to use a VOIP app like whatsapp. Every single relative in India has it, I have literally made one call to a mobile in the last 5 years over the voice network. Even biz have whatsapp numbers there.
If you do that, you could be on any carrier.
As to roaming in India, depending upon how frequently you can just use a eSIM provider and pay every time you are there.

4 lines @ $20 each = $80 + $16.17 in taxes/fees
3 lines @ $25 each = $75 + $11.79 in taxes/fees
not sure why this was posted today. i've had the $20 for 4 lines for several months and I dont think that was a new price then

I just use airalo when I go there: https://www.airalo.com/india-esim
$14 for 3 GB for a month.
