Sata m.2 still have a purpose, mainly for populating adapter cards. M.2 slots were limited on earlier generation motherboards, and a lot of the pcie m.2 adapter cards have two sockets, one for nvme and one for sata.
Is this a fast bootable drive? Want to replace my m.2 that came with my laptop.
Should be. Most won't notice the differences between various SSDs. However, this is likely a DRAM-less drive, so if you are planning on doing a lot of writes to the drive you might want a different drive. Most people will likely not need to worry about that. Personally, I would spend the extra $20-25 and get the Intel NVMe drive from Newegg. That one is 1TB and has DRAM. Plus I trust Intel more than Team Group. Check and confirm if your PC's m.2 slot is NVMe or SATA.
