As a price reference, Costco Wholesale's Kirkland Signature Nitrile Exam Gloves [costco.com] is usually $24.99 for 400 gloves, which works out to be $6.25 per 100 gloves. For this deal, it is $3.25 per 100 gloves. Also, I think Kirkland Signature gloves are 3 mil, whereas these are 4 mil.

I did a brief search and found out that the product sold here through Woot is also sold on Amazon: ForPro Disposable Nitrile Gloves, Chemical Resistant, Powder-Free, Latex-Free, Non-Sterile, Food Safe, 4 Mil, Black, Large, 100-Count [amazon.com]

ForPro sells a huge variety of products in multiple categories; I get the feeling they don't manufacture all of their own products. The brand is owned by TNG Worldwide, which was apparently established in 1985 by a Michigan-based CEO. (source [tngworldwide.com])

I completely agree that not all brands of disposable gloves are made equally. I personally have been using Venom Steel for years, although they are pricey. If anyone is interested, YouTuber Project Farm did an interesting test of disposable gloves: Best Gloves (Nitrile vs Latex)? Venom Steel vs Grease Monkey, Hardy, Phantom, Raven, Gloveworks [youtube.com]

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Good price but without any reviews, it isn't worth the risk IMO. Not all brands are made equally.

In my experience, the 4 mil in the OP is very prone to tearing on even some mild tasks requiring dexterity.

Although it's likely my age catching up with me, I much prefer a quality glove as opposed to chasing deals these days. If I'm gloving up, I expect to not grab another one in the next 10 minutes.

Venom Steel and Gloveworks are tied in my book.
  • Venom Steel is easily available (Costco), and at the moment cheaper.
    • Proven to be fairly durable with their dual layer.
    • Good chemical resistance.
  • Gloveworks (Orange) I can get via S&S (Amazon), sometimes with a discount.
    • Is a 50/50 on durability, depending on batches
    • For finer tasks, the diamond texture is ideal for high-grip.

Have you used these particular ForPro gloves before?

I agree. That said, I placed an order for these gloves because I'm curious to test them out, and can use them for lighter tasks that aren't prone to tearing.

Wow, I have never seen Venom Steel at Costco stores before in the San Francisco Bay Area! I had no idea Costco stores anywhere carried this brand.

Take care,
Tofu Vic

Great analysis. I would use these gloves primarily for resin printing and doing oil changes, so nothing too extreme. I'll order a set and see how they hold up.

I have; I would say they're closely tied with the 5mil Hardy brand from HF. That said, I feel that the cuff/wrist section on these is better and is less prone to tearing.

The VS is regularly stocked at my local Costco Business Center; the traditional stores seem to be on a seasonal/quarterly rotation.

Food safe 4-mil gloves at 3.25 cents a piece is a great deal if they are comparable to other 4-mil gloves.

Based on the reviews on Amazon, I would say that they fit that bill.

Now, are thicker gloves going to do better for certain jobs? Absolutely!
Does that mean these will not find a use? Heck no!

Sometimes you need gloves just to keep your hands clean. My hands also hate wearing tight gloves like this for extended periods of time, so I don't need them to last ages. I have 7-mil gloves that I feel bad for not using 'enough' before tossing.

My only question is should I get Medium or Large? I always fall in between sizes, it seems, but some Larges fit perfectly.

For such a large package size unless one has a use for them so often that they'll be used within a year or so I would worry about their longevity in either the opened state or the unopened state.

After all lots of kinds of rubber / plastic materials get dried out and crusty and brittle and weak after time just from age and material degradation and offgassing and air exposure and whatever light exposure they may get etc. etc.

Mostly I try to use either reusable work gloves or if "dirty" rubber gloves are needed then wear reusable "kitchen clean up" or similar rubber gloves and only for the things not suited for those wear single use disposable gloves like these so probably only use a few pairs or less in months now.

So it's tempting to get a multi-year supply for low cost but I don't know if they'd last over time and that's added to the question of possibly poor initial quality / durability / fit etc.

I am old enough to remember when people would trade drugs to get a box of 50 nitrile gloves....

4 mil is very thin. Good for cooking or something else light. Definitely not for any Auto work. They will rip very quickly.
