I was able to start my A23 order online this morning, filled out all my info on the first 3 pages, but when I clicked Submit Order at the end, it said to contact/call Metro.
Amazingly, I got thru on the phone and completed the order, tho at first the rep will tell you the phone is $329.99 and be clueless (or act like it) on the free promo deal.

I ended up ordering the A23 for the required $50 first month plan and 9 minutes later in the same call I ended up also ordering the Moto G Stylus 5G (2022), for the required $40 plan.

For what it's worth, tho today is a holiday, the traffic shows that the order number of my Moto (done exactly 9 minutes after the Samsung A23 order) was 192 numbers higher.
So their traffic right now is approx 21-22 orders per minute.
I'm not sure how you got them to place an order over the phone.

I called and they told me to place an order online or go to the store.

So it doesn't matter if we keep the sim with the phone or not? I think I'll use it as a wifi app/music player in the meanwhile. Is it ok just to not mess with the sim at all?
Doesn't matter. I ended up putting my sim in my Pixel 3. Never put it in the phone I ordered. As long as the device is compatible. My Pixel 1 is on Android 10 and that may or may not be why it is incompatible. Only could get texting to work, not calls. Tried troubleshooting tips and I gave up and chatted with them. They said incompatible device.

Haven't tried yet but if it works the same for me, how does this affect being able to unlock the phone at a later date? Or does your A23 show as unlocked?

Do you mean the free t-mobile esim trial offer or a physical SIM card you had previously?

I'm curious if it unlocked when you used the postpaid t-mobile physical sim. Can you check the unlock settings to see if it shows it is still locked?

When you order the phone, they make you create an 8 digit PIN, write this down. Upon activation of the phone, they'll display your phone number, also write this down.

Take the phone number, and PIN number that you wrote down, login to your account. Make sure Autopay is off (usually is), and that there is no saved payment method.

Hope that's clear enough.

Not sure what I did differently but although the A23 5G I just received have full bar with Tmo postpaid sim, I was NOT able to make a call. I activated with the Metro sim card first to begin the 6 month u lock clock. Same with the Moto stylus, after one month, it registered on Tmo network and able to make call, use data but next day that stopped.
