Metro allows their phones to be unlocked after ~180 days. Some Metro phones work with T-Mobile out of the box, though I'm not sure if that's the case with this specific phone.
Moto G Stylus 5g 2022 is also back at $40 w/1 month service

Yes, it comes with the phone. Possibly in a brown envelope that can easily be missed as it can look like the packing material.

Any deals on a good phone case?
It's unlikely that a "deal" would pop up for a case for this phone since it's such a niche, low/mid end phone. But there are decent, relatively cheap options at Amazon with free Prime shipping. You should search yourself as we all have different definitions of "good".

$7/$8 options, both of which includes two tempered glass screen protectors:If you just want cheap and will take any color/type of case:

Thanks for your time. I'll probably hold off till a deal on a better case comes along.

I asked earlier but didnt get a reply. If I am a current metro customer and want to use this on metro network can I just put my current sim in and swap devices in metro app or should I activate with included sim first, wait the month until service expires, and then swap devices? If I dont activate new sim what happens when metro tries to automatically activate it in 20 days? Sorry for all the questions I just cant find a clear answer on this. Metro makes current customers go through loopholes to get any decent discount on phones.

It should be in the same package in a brown sealed shipping style envelope. Just the credit card size card inside.

This is a very nice phone for its intended price point. I would not pay full price but comparing it to my brand new S23 Ultra I realize I do not need a flagship phone. I could easily get by with this as my daily driver. Same software, good processor and snappy enough for regular use. Too bad we have to wait so long for an unlock. Going to make an excellent backup phone. I just might sell my S23U after 6 months and rock this thing. It does everything I could need.

I just took delivery of one of those $7 Amazon cases with two protectors. Would not recommend, loose fit. First screen protector did not have adhesive on one top corner so it was wasted. Have not tried the second one yet. Case is too lose and has a poor feel. I would hold out for a more premium option.

I got a clear TPU case with one screen protector off eBay. Fits great. Haven't tried the screen protector yet. I've only ever used film screen protectors because I prefer a matte finish but I guess film is out of favor these days.

wow I got it and I'm kinda impressed. Maybe I should switch back to Samsung lol. The display is really nice for being an LCD. I'm impressed with the display. it's comfortably bright on half brightness which normally i have to turn lcd's up to like 80% to be bright enough for my liking. but i've only had it 5 minutes so we'll see if i discover other dislikes.

boots pretty slow i guess but who cares. i'm also expecting slow charging compared to what i'm used too. no charger in box but i knew that.

That's cool, I have a charger bought of Amazon specifically because it supports the correct PD spec to fast charge my Samsung S7 tablet, so I think it will work well with this phone too.

Anyone get an error while ordering but still have a hold on their credit card?

I have a $50 hold from Feb 20 but no order confirmation.

anybody remember how to set up the metro account? I forgot. Put sim in but when I make a call it connected me to a metro operator saying we see your account is not active, which I hung up on cus I dont wanna get slammed with human added upcharges.

I seem to remember a email with directions before, that I dont see this time...
From the FAQ link on the wiki:

How to activate:
In your shipment confirmation email, there's a link on the bottom that says track your status "here".
Click on that link, enter your order number and zip, it will show you shipment progress. At the very bottom of that page, there's a spot that says activate service. Just click on that and it will populate the phone number and activate the sim.

How to activate and avoid some common issues:
the URL:https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/order-status
  1. after you placed your order and received order confirmation email (subject should be We've received your Metro order!), you should be able to start tracking order and delivery status at the above URL
  2. once you received your phone, insert sim and power up the phone. for the initial phone software setup (not activation), I connected phone to wifi and skipped all of the google things so phone would say I'm only XX% through setup which doesn't really matter. I didn't have to download any app either. before next step I'm already at phone's "desktop" without google account or phone maker (ex. moto) account on the phone
  3. on your PC or whatever device you know website access would work, go to the same above URL
  4. enter your order info to track your order
  5. after page loaded the tracking info, scroll to the bottom and click on the button to start activate your phone/sim. go through the activation process which would setup an Metro online account if you don't already have one. make sure your phone is already powered up with sim inserted before you start the activation process!
  6. you should be able to do calls and texts if activation went through properly. I have both working within less than a minute where phone shows 5G UC icon and both wifi calling & VoLTE registered for Metro by T-Mobile. you should receive an email with subject You did it! Your phone is active within 24 hours. the email with subject Ready. Set. Activate will come some time later as well. I received both emails one day after I had already activated and started using the phone with full services

ALTERNATE method to activate your new phone

1. Use the order status page and enter the order# and zip, below the status is a link to activate.
2. Once you click this, you will see your new phone#.
3. Login to your account with your new phone# and the pin you created when creating the order
4. OTP is sent to the phone that is not yet setup - LOL
5. Setup the new phone
6. Repeat #3 and this time you can get the OTP on your new phone
7. Login - confirm auto billing option is OFF
