Metro will activate the SIM within 2 weeks of your delivery date, but I don't think it will automatically activate your phone/trigger the device's internal unlock counter. You have to install the SIM and turn on the phone for that. I noticed my phone's unlock date was exactly 181 days after I put my SIM into the phone and not when the SIM was activated two weeks prior, so it was a good thing I put it into my phone before the first month was over. Might've had to pay for another month and start the counter from there.

Can confirm that I only spent money on the first month and kept it in a drawer afterwards for exactly 180 days after my SIM activated, but it said I wasn't eligible for a unlock until about 2 weeks later after that (180 days after I finally turned the phone on with the SIM inside). Bought this phone back in June (with the deal at discounted price with first month, not this better deal at free with first month) and unlocked just about 2 weeks ago.

The unlock setting (built into the phone, not a separate app) gives a very distinct, red X with message saying that I didn't reach the requisite 180 days to unlock the device, but that message about the 180 days disappeared after waiting a few weeks longer and in its place was a link to try a 'permanent unlock', which worked.

The last Motorola I got from T-Mobile is garbage. Can't play a single Game. Barely works at all. Is this worth getting or should I just get a good note 20 Ultra
What was the last Motorola phone that you got?

This is my personal experience. I own multiple N200s ..the older batch IMEI starts with 99xx17, working with T-Mobile SIM and tzone (purchased almost a year ago). New N200 IMEI starts from 99xx18 (few months ago), no luck with TMobile SIM, so I guess the loophole got closed... newer phones do not prompt the the SIM locked/restricted with T-Mobile SIM, sometime seems to have signal but cannot do anything , using manual network search only can see T-Mobile 2G signal, put Metro SIM back, everything becomes fine...
OK, my N200 has a IMEI starts from 99xx18, I put my t-mobile sim in, it didn't get 5G signal, but it did has some 2G signal and it seems I can make phone call but no data access.

I actually have the unlocked version of this phone since I don't want to mess with carriers, but I noticed some things that are off about it.

1. This phone will only get one Android platform update and then no more Android updates. Security updates for 2 years.

2. The Signals bars are way off. I had a Signal tracking app that while the phone showed 4 bars, the signal app on the other hand showed -114dbm(2 bars). It's as if Motorola is artificially inflating signal while they just don't get it that their new modems are terrible. Also just like AT&T did, Moto could get sued for doing that if someone took proof to court.

3. Just like 95% of all Moto phones, this one does not support eSim.

4. Audio quality is below average on this device, trust me buy this and an iPhone and you will notice the iPhone sounds better.

5. Does not support mmWave.

Except for the above^ complaints, this phone otherwise is actually good. If you can live with LTE, 5G Nationwide, and C-Band this phone should work for you!

Do you have cheap case, faster charger and screenprotetor to suggest?

The website works for me intermittently… gonna get another one after getting one in December. Such a great tablet like device to have around.
