Metro will activate the SIM within 2 weeks of your delivery date, but I don't think it will automatically activate your phone/trigger the device's internal unlock counter. You have to install the SIM and turn on the phone for that. I noticed my phone's unlock date was exactly 181 days after I put my SIM into the phone and not when the SIM was activated two weeks prior, so it was a good thing I put it into my phone before the first month was over. Might've had to pay for another month and start the counter from there.

Can confirm that I only spent money on the first month and kept it in a drawer afterwards for exactly 180 days after my SIM activated, but it said I wasn't eligible for a unlock until about 2 weeks later after that (180 days after I finally turned the phone on with the SIM inside). Bought this phone back in June (with the deal at discounted price with first month, not this better deal at free with first month) and unlocked just about 2 weeks ago.

The unlock setting (built into the phone, not a separate app) gives a very distinct, red X with message saying that I didn't reach the requisite 180 days to unlock the device, but that message about the 180 days disappeared after waiting a few weeks longer and in its place was a link to try a 'permanent unlock', which worked.

Definitely. The unlock mechanism is part of the original carrier-specific firmware.
The next hurdle is to verify that one can unlock the bootloader once the phone is unlocked. If this function is disabled in the stock T Mobile firmware, then one cannot install the stock Motorola firmware.

Copped 5 devices total $200 to resell on marketplace

Cha-Ching!!!!
For "YOU," I hope they change the unlock policy in the near future to include 6 months of "continuous active service." I'll eat $40 for the ONE I successfully ordered and relish the fact that you are screwed....

He's selling them locked so I am not sure what this will do.
The ones taking the risk are the buyers.

Exactly. Flippers suck if all the risk is on the buyer.

what's the cheapest non-clear case for this?

clear cases always turn nasty yellow.

Temu requires $10 minimum order.

I was wondering why need to flip these to gain probably $200 profit each? I see if you have these like 1000 of them the last. Yeah then the total net profit will be $200k but the max you could buy probably top out at 100. So that will give you $20k profit. I guess that's still a great profit

you arent making 200 profit off these. 100 tops.

and half of the ppl on marketplace are time wasting scammers themselves. they will probe around and waste your time looking for some angle to screw you on anything you sell. lowball offers, offer trades you dont want, berate you for your price being too high according to them, half of them being thugs you dont want to meet etc.

if you don't have anything productive to do with your time (IE young, unemployed) its fine.

i already did two of the n20 a while back, but just now tried to add a a23 (these are all family member gifts or possible keep as spares or gaming phones). it said due now 369 or something although step one showed the phone 0 dollars. dont get it is this happening to ppl now? do they know i already did it 2x? i wasn't logged in.

The only risk the buyer is taking is that the unlock after 6 months doesn't happen.
But the ones buying these probably just want a brand new phone at a great price.
