Sure you can. Section 179 IRS code allows 100% writedown of computer purchases first year they do not discern between new, used, or refurbs. That being said I buy them for resale. I own a computer store that sells new and refurbished computers. We offer computers from $99 to $50,000 servers. We've been in business for 28 years. By the way my first intern job out of high school was for the IRS in Holtsville, NY. I've been writing code since the mid-70's. Finally opened my first store in 1995. For the record most of my business is B to B. Most love refurbs..everyone wants to cost cut..I deal to government, non-profits, schools, etc. Most consumer model in the lower price ranges are built like crud. These are professional workstations and/or buiness models used in banks, hospitals, the military..completely different build quality. On this model--to get new about $1500 per or if you have folks doing 2D cad or solidworks -- you can buy 5-6 of these. Dell also knows they are going to see them again at end of lease--built better. Precisions, Latitudes are built completely different then Inspiron and Vostro. Same at HP. Probook, Elitebook, Zbook vs. Pavilion. Lenovo Thinkpad vs. Ideapad.

Upvoted, and would buy one if I didn't already have one. This is a commercial quality portable workstation, and I plan to get another 10 years out of mine as a home office machine.
Also... These usually come in excellent shape. Dell tends to be quite conservative with the condition description in my experience.
Thank you for posting.

$359.00 not $299.00?
The link originally took you to many (10+) of this model and configuration, with price of $549, listed as sale price $499, minus $200 was $299…..but I think all of those have sold out, and now no longer available at that price.

Maybe read before posting. Your immense math skills aside you're wrong in that it's on sale for $499

There was some talk in this thread about using "pineapple sherbet" to get a discount on this, but it was never explained how to do so. Those posts seem to have been removed. What was that about?

im not picky for a reply, any honest opinion works so i can show the person that is in the market for a laptop that it will work for them (they dont just want my word on the buy, they want other opinions also, so thanks! Smilie )
Precision are as good as a desktop with small form factor. Very flexible to upgrade. Workhorses and would last 10 years if maintained properly. Speaking from latitude experience.

Here we go again. From now on I keep the deals to myself and for my business. Trolls ruin the experience and the community. You all have a wonderful life.
Don't let the trolls stop you. I purchase refurb dell laptops every 3 or 4 years for around $300, upgrade it and toss after a few years, meanwhile others are buying the new version of the laptop for $1400 and tossing after 5 years.
The only thing I would caution anyone looking to buy any Windows 10 device, make sure that device can be upgraded to Win11. Windows10 will no longer be supported after Oct 2025. Often Dell will have the serial number that will allow you to check to see if the device will be compatible.
GlenC, keep posting, I appreciate the savings!

You can install windows 11 on this. I am running windows 11 on an Alienware 13r3 w/ i5 6300. You don't have to have a TPM if you download the install media and manually install the OS.
Are you sure, windows 11 can be installed in these.. that will be game changer.
Dell site says it has not tested nor support this model for windows 11 (https://www.dell.com/support/kbdo...windows-11)

Free update to 11 on the two Latitudes I purchased in December!
This has a 7th gen cpu, only a few are fully compatibile. Usually need an 8th gen cpu for upgrade to Windows 11. Here's the Microsoft CPU list for upgrade compatibility [microsoft.com]. The 7820HQ is on the "maybe" list. So again, I'd say this is worth a roll of the dice.

I have two new laptops - 16" Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen 4 (i7 Gen 10) and a Dell (Intel Gen 11 also) both of which came with Windows 11 support.

However, I also have an older 32GB 17.3" Predator laptop with a 6th Gen quad core i7 (6700HQ) CPU and nVidia GTX1060 GPU and 2 SSDs hooked up to two 24" monitors.
This older laptop meets all the Win 11 requirements, incl. TPM 2.0, except for the CPU requirement.
(Note - I do NOT game or perform any graphic design work etc. on my PCs).

Based on the feedback of others who tried Win 11 on this specific CPU (6700HQ) w/o issues and the fact that Microsoft itself offers a Win 11 ISO method in such cases, I upgraded the Predator to Win 11 a few weeks ago:

Easy & painless upgrade and it works fine - not a single crash or issue since I upgraded. Had to update one USB BT 5.0 adapter's driver to its Win 11 version and that was it.
I also get Windows 11 updates (at least for now).

YMMV depending on your specific CPU (and other hardware)...
