From a supposedly T-Mobile employee on Reddit, here is the latest update (5/1/2023) on Autopay discount:
Source:
https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/...ange_date/
The new autopay changes requiring a debit card or bank account to receive the discount goes into effect on May 18th.
EDIT: May 18th is for new and existing customers just enrolling in autopay
May 20th customers enrolled in autopay without debit card/back account/T-Mobile money will receive text messages over the next several months depending on bill cycle. They will receive a text message 30 days before their autopay discount is removed. Then a 15 day reminder, and again 3 days before. So the date for existing customers enrolled in autopay will vary from account to account.
Most reloadable cards are eligible for the autopay discount while non-reloadable are not and cannot be used for autopay.
Will update this post with more information as I get it.

It would still be 5%, no matter how many lines you have.
What are you talking about. My bill is currently 122 for 8 lines this will increase it by 40 to 162 which ~25%
Privacy can also locks to single merchant. So even if card # stolen, it would only work at T-Mobile.
Exactly what I was thinking. First, they implemented the ridiculous "connection fee" for online phones purchases, now this. They keep eliminating the things that made them better than other carriers.
We get TMO Tuesdays, but the majority of those perks are largely useless to me. 20% off a socks-of-the-month subscription? Uh, thanks T-Mobile.
They are on the hook for settlement on the first data breach, and now will be looking at lawsuits for the second data breach. Can't expect TMobile to have their shareholders pay for their malfeasance.
"majority of our customers use their bank account or debit card for AutoPay and will continue to get a discount on top of an already great rate plan value."
Lol
"And we are sorry to inform those foolish enough to have entrusted their bank account details with us that we've once again given out your personal details to hackers. Have a nice day. -TMobile"

wqsnt aware of that with cit cc. Glad i replaced my appliances and tv last year then.
Yeah f them !
However, last year, buying the GC in store no longer triggers the 5% with either my Amex or my chase business cash
Have your purchased a gc recently in store and had it trigger the 5%?
For me, I was just getting the basic cash back on my credit card anyway, so I thought something was better than nothing. I ended up signing up for Verizon Visa card so that I didn't have to remember to keep buying gift cards.
I didn't know that, thanks. I've been always just set a limit for 3 months and then update it every quarter.

If we use a debit card number, is there fraud protection still? Because I was thinking using a debit card would be much better than bank account info.
