MGSV is awesome. It's very different from the other games (which are also awesome) because it's open world and less story driven, but the gameplay is extremely fun and rewarding.

I'm a recent convert to the PS & have played on nothing but Xbox for the last 22 years (PSVR 2 is what made me finally go PS, so I got the PS5 Digital God of War Ragnarok Bundle & Pre-ordered PSVR 2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle). I know it's only $3.99, but is MGS V something I should try? I'm a huge Halo nerd too if that helps. Thank you!

Def give it a try, METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN might be the worst game on the list but ground zeroes will help you understand what is metal gear solid game like. I finished all of the games since ps1 but didn't finished the phantom pain.

It's a great game but nothing like Halo. More of a focus on stealth and story telling.

I thought Ground Zeroes was okay, given that there was actually a stage as opposed to miles of empty desert, and a clear objective. I was surprised by the dullness of Phantom Pain's presentation and game design by any standard, but especially MGS standards, since Kojima had carefully crafted the ones before it. It really feels like the series should have ended after IV.

I'm thinking they mean out of MGS games and not the list of deals. I could be wrong. MGS V wasn't Kojima's best, but it was still good. Would have been better if they let him finish it. Annoying they call it the definitive experience when they never let him finish it. You can find some of the scenes of the last chapters that were cut if you search around.

It's a good game but maybe not the best starting point. The whole MGS story is rather convoluted and some of it might be confusing jumping in at MGS V.

That said, it'd at least let you see if you like the general gameplay and storytelling style and it is a sort of prequel so I don't think it'd ruin the main story too much if you want to go back and play the earlier games. Some things might be confusing until you play the other games.

And the price is definitely right.
