Also, if you already have a pro account, you can extend your subscription by going to the windscribe.com/upgrade after logging in and using the stacksocial code there.

Already have a 3 yr plan, but if I bought this, would it stack/add onto my current plan? And I know it says, "Only available to new users", but thought that I had read in a past SD thread that people had done this.

Also, for all of you that got a lifetime deal years ago, no one cares.

Handling fee is $1.99 on top of that. Mine came out to be $56.10 with handling and taxes.

I can confirm it stacks and adds to your current plan.

Can this be installed on the router to make it available for the whole network?
Yes you can depending on your router. You can see all their download options here: https://windscribe.com/download

Glad I got a lifetime account for $20 years ago. Decent VPN. I do occasionally get some sites saying they have to verify that I'm not a bot. On very rare occasions, sites will refuse to work depending on the server I'm using.
That's what prevents me from using a VPN. I wouldn't mind the requirement for extra verification BUT some sites will freeze your account that is until you jump thru numerous hoops to unlock it.
eg... send us a scan of you DL/state ID. PayPal asked for my passport???
I told them to go pound some sand!!

I only need to use a VPN for utorrent. Is there a way to set this up only to work with the utorrent app.

I was going to renew my Nord. Might try this out.
I did this. I regret it. If you use the vpn on your iPhone, the app is terrible. It disconnects me from wifi constantly for some insane reason, it regularly makes me toggle the connection on and off because sites just decide to stop loading, about once a week it forgets its configuration and asks me to allow vpn configurations. I thought maybe it might just be something I was doing wrong, but I went on their subreddit asking if it happened to anyone else and pretty much everyone one there agreed the iOS app is just terrible. NordVPN I would maybe have one issue a month where I had to reboot my phone.

Speed wise, in the beginning months, I'd get nowhere near the same speeds as I did with NordVPN (between 8-17mpbs on average), whereas with the first month or two with Windscribe, I'd be lucky to hit 2mbps. The speeds eventually got much higher, but they only happened once I cut back on how much I download (the poor speeds discouraged me from downloading higher quality stuff overall). Or now that I think about it, once the holidays were over they got better.

I sort of expected that Windscribe might be at least a bit inferior, but I didn't think it would be enough that it would bother me, especially considering the price and length of the sub. I was wrong on that. Nord for me just worked, it just felt like my normal everyday internet. Windscribe just feels like a compromise.

If you only use the dekstop app and download speeds aren't important to you, it's probably better to go with Windscribe, but otherwise I'd recommend staying with nord.

Thanks for posting this OP Smilie

Guys it's absolutely worth trying windscribe out for the longest while my experience with it was very positive (BUT.. see below) .. I think there's a free version you can download and try first before buying this too ... but I'd like to share my experience though it's absolutely worth noting it could be just me alone suffering this problem.

After I first installed it to Windows 10 (stubbornly remained on Win 8 for the longest time out of laziness Stick Out Tongue ) Windscribe worked fine for me right up until I disconnected it .. at which point I could not connect to the internet at all when not in Windscribe Frown ... a call to comcast/xfinity worked as far as having them reset my modem (did it the old fashioned way by calling xfinity's automated system and having it reset the modem then powering the modem on and off, a phone call was necessary to, according to the xfinity rep, "push" the signal back to the modem) and I got my internet back.. but did some research after that and there are some bitter complaints from windscribe users stating the service isn't what it used to be... I found their tech support to be prompt as far as responding to my email asking what happened but all they could suggest is to download the latest version (they'd gone on to a new version since then ) and try again.. which I'm honestly unwilling to do since it was such a hassle to get my internet back the first time Frown

So if it was me personally.. make a backup of Windows (I've heard good things about even the free version of Macrium Reflect but make sure you create the macrium reflect recovery usb drive too if you go that route, even a 16 GB cheap usb 2.0 drive will do the trick) before installing this so you can restore your previous version of Windows if necessary as an absolute last resort if a call to your internet provider doesn't work.. then again it could be just me having problems.

Makes me really sad actually, I was enjoying using my (yes I know no one cares I got a free windscribe account Stick Out Tongue ) account Frown ... not sure if a paid version of windscribe would work better?

Windscribe is a very good free and premium VPN. Both versions possess excellent streaming capabilities, and Windscribe Free is one of the very best free VPNs of 2023, unblocking UK Netflix, HBO Max, and BBC iPlayer. The VPN recently suffered some server security vulnerabilities, although they have since been resolved.

Can anyone comment on how this is for streaming services? Been looking for something that will work with Peacock... But even Nord gets detected by Peacock.

And I do realize that there's a good chance streaming services won't be easy or maybe even possible to use with VPN in the not so far away future since they're seeming to crack down more on "account sharing" and whatever..

Finally, I'd like to say that I've seen Windscribe work in some instances when other VPNs were blocked. I feel like it is one of the lesser known VPNs, and not in a bad way

Edit - realized it might sound silly I'm asking about streaming services, but also comment on having used Windscribe. I have a 50 or 60gb or whatever allotment like the other guy, but I haven't really used it for streaming myself, and also only have access to so many services
Peacock is the one app that I use where Windscribe skips ads entirely (recorded programming) and doesn't auto-play ads to fill in the time during commercial breaks (live programming). I've tried it both at my own place and at my parents' house with the same results (all on firestick so YMMV depending on device I guess). I live abroad and use Windscribe for unlocking content all the time. It's not 100% perfect but in my experience it has been close.

Signed up for the 3-year plan from the StackSocial deal last November. Total came to $61.32

This total comes to $55.73, so an even better deal.

Yes, there is a split tunneling feature that you can set to inclusive/exclusive mode where you can specify which apps are included/excluded in the VPN tunnel.

What is Split Tunneling and how to use it [windscribe.com]

Doesn't the lifetime deal have an end date as well? I vaguely remember that it was for something like 6 years. Will they extend it beyond that date?

I have Comcast/Xfinity. Windsribe works just fine. "Disconnecting it" has nothing to do with your internet connection from your internet provider, and the same goes for your PC operating system.
You're that guy that dabbles with things you don't quite understand, even if you think you do. So please spare giving out bad information.
