I got two when they were on sale for black Friday and paired it with a Sonos arc for the bedroom. I used the two frames as surrounds. Instead of buying Ikea's covers I purchased customized ones from https://uniskdesign.com/. This got high wife acceptance factor and looks really good on the wall. The power cable is long and looks better if you can hide it in wall. I primarily use it for watching TV shows and the surround sound works really well. Highly recommend it!

These are not the same class of product. The Google Home Max will sound better and have better bass extension. These are roughly equivalent to Sonos Ones in the product line up and sound quality whereas the Max competes with the Sonos Five. These are mainly designed to be speakers that are incognito fit in with decor. They're unique for being able to link up with other Sonos products and become a rear surround pair. The Max is designed to work in mono and stereo but not necessarily as discrete surrounds. These Symfonisk picture frames can also work as mono and stereo front and left speakers but again, they shine as complementing surround speakers.

Any idea if these can these be connected to the TV? If so how would one, like a Bluetooth speakers?

No Bluetooth whatsoever. It works with Sonos and Airplay 2 and such

My only "compliant" is the depth of the speakers. It can easily be fixed by room placement but it is a slight criticism.

I believe you have to buy a Sonos soundbar and add these as surrounds. I'm not sure if there is another method to connect it tbh.

I can choose them as a speaker from Apple TV. Sounds great. (This is for Sonos so don't know for sure it would work with these.)

You cannot connect to TV without a pair , its not bluetooth but can connect to sonos radio or airplay or play it from your stored songs from phone

Easy as that. They run standalone like a single Sonos speaker. Launch Spotify or whatever music app and cast to the speaker. Will work with plex too. There is an option to link your Sonos to plex.
