Great deal if you need one, tremendous price compared to it's original retail value. It was cheaper than any other brand on the shelf either. There were some other cooking wares that were on clearance too like Cast Iron pans. YMMV but this is worth a check if you're in the market for one, or for a replacement.

Product Details:

Percolate. Pour. Caffeinate. Repeat. We've upgraded this Stanley Stainless Steel Coffee Percolator campsite classic for those who can't get enough of good coffee or vintage nostalgia. The sleek, modern design features a removable silicone grip, which lets you take it off the heat without burning your hands. Makes up to six cups (1.1 qt) of coffee so you can share with friends. 'BUILT FOR LIFE'. Since 1913 we've promised to provide rugged, capable gear for food and drink, built to last a lifetime. It's a promise we still keep. Stanley products purchased from Stanley Resellers come with a lifetime warranty.

Found mine in the sporting goods/camping supplies area right on the shelf. Picked up a small Ozark Trail Frying pan too for $3-4 bucks. Should be fine for a few camping trips a year.

I see $6.84 near me with availability unknown. How does this differ from a french press?

Pity post?

I just picked one up locally I never would have found without this post and Brickseek.

A french press has to have it's water heated externally in a kettle, pan, etc and then is poured into the press to steep before you push the plunger down. A percolator is basically a kettle that contains the coffee grounds and it boils water from the bottom and delivers it up a tube and pours it over the grounds sitting on a little shelf on the top and then recirculates. It's a bit of a different way to make coffee and with only one device. I'll be honest, I've never used one myself but I've seen many use them. I love my french press too but it isn't $5 bucks! Does it taste differently...eh I'm sure there's someone to argue that point but it's not me.

The Walmart site shows $30 for store pickup, while BS shows $11. Will the price auto-adjust at the time of pickup? That used to be the case, but I haven't tried it lately.

Update: It is ready for pick, and the order details show the discount price.

Simply put, French press is for home use, this is better suited for camp use

Thank you both for your input. Here is a link to anyone who is doing a indepth dive into the differences...

https://www.littlecoffeeplace.com...ench-press

I do like my french press and since water comes in direct contact with the coffee grounds and lingers around for a long time... you can expect more oil and character in your coffee.

Percolator coffee was always thought to be better tasting coffee growing up in India as the TV ads brainwashed you into believing it... but I see the mechanics similar to that of a moka pot but I guess that's where the similarities end. Moka pot is strong concentrated coffee vs large batches of average strength coffee in Percolators.

I would still get this if I can find at this price to add to my collection.
