Office use scores 8.0, which is quite good.
IPS is a LCD panel technology that has the best color accuracy and great switching speed. Best panel for gaming imo. Low contrast is the shortcoming because it can't reach true dark/black. If you don't use it often in a dark room then it should be fine.

I'd argue the contrast on VA panels makes them better all around monitors. It isn't uncommon to see VA panels with double to contrast of an IPS. Also color accuracy really only matters on calibrated monitors.
I'd take better contrast for a small difference in color gamut.
In an office or a living room I say IPS or OLED, but I say VA makes a better primary monitor in a home office.

Agreed! For office/casual entertainment use, like Youtube/video/light gaming, VA is a great option. I personally just can't stand the smearing, otherwise VA look very sharp. But again, this is a "gaming monitor" with up to 170 Hz (DisplayPort)...

We like it, but are not big gamers to notice a difference
Monoprice Dark Matter (paid $250 new): Too much ghosting and motion blur for an IPS (4th place). Bad backlight bleed (3rd place). Medium IPS glow (tied for 2nd).
Acer XV322QU P (paid $208 refurb): Bad ghosting and blur (3rd place). Bad bleed, especially around the edges (4th place). Medium IPS glow (tied for 2nd).
HP X32 (paid $230 new, tested 2): Best ghosting and blur results (1st place). Least amount of backlight bleed (1st place). Worst IPS glow (3rd place). Both BIM121, BOE panels.
Acer XV320QU LV (paid $175 open box): Very good ghosting and blur results, but slightly worse than the HP (2nd place). Acceptable bleed, mostly noticeable in the lower right corner (2nd place). Least annoying IPS glow (1st place). Innolux M315KCA-E7B panel.
The differences in glow between the models wasn't extreme, but the HP's was whiter, brighter, and noticeable at more angles, with the others being warmer and more toned down. This is a property of IPS and same model panels usually have similar results (along with blur). For backlight bleed, this is more variable between specific units.
Acer's specs for the XV320QU LV state 250nit brightness, but the spec for the panel is 400. It definitely seems like it gets brighter than 250, especially with the max brightness setting. For contrast and color, I'd say the Acer's and the X32 are the best of the bunch. I also think the Acer has the best sharpness for text as well as the best stand. I decided to keep this model due to its price and all-around performance. I use it as my daily and would recommend it others, with the real caveat for me being the edge backlight bleed. I'm hoping that gets better with time, as I've heard that can happen depending on the cause. The HP X32 when on sale for $230 (vs $250 for the Acer) may be the better buy if you find the glow tolerable and/or you can get an LG panel. Supposedly the LG panels have less glow.
Edit: I'll add that generally panel models can vary between units, so YMMV with all of this of course

Thank you for the detailed review, sir. Really informative.... I regret so hard when I missed the HP X32 deal. But now I think this one is equally good. Thanks again.
