Could anyone with electrical knowledge tell me, just purely for fun's sake, how long this would take to charge a Tesla Model Y (70 kWH) under optimal conditions?

233 hours with optimal conditions. However I don't think that application for this would work anyway

Appreciate it. My wife is always asking whether we could put solar on top of cars and have them power themselves. Looks like almost certainly not with today's tech.

Today's tech can do it, but not with something as heavy as a Tesla and at the speeds that most people want to drive.

Yes, sorry I should provide clarification:
my wife means can our Teslas actually come with solar panels on the top that will make a meaningful difference in when we have to charge. I think the answer is no....even with the Cybertruck I am planning to get Smilie

A typical Model Y (unless you're talking Texas 4680 models) is 82 kWh / 75 kWh usable.

Assuming the Tesla is charged through another battery at full 12 kW rate (48A), minimizing losses (~94% efficient) because if you charge at 120v you're only about 50-70% efficient. You're looking at 277 hours total. Considering its about 6 hours average sun hours in Southern California (4 in winter, 8 in summer), that would be about 46 days of charging.
