I like your thinking, and I would certainly love to see this selling at $25... However, I have a feeling that somewhere around $35 is probably the hard floor for this. I think the reason we are seeing prices fall right now is because of an over supply of nand flash. Since they are currently making significant cuts to production, I worry that a correction in the other direction will be coming soon. My suggestion would be if you think you will need this in the next year, I would buy now!

This is a well known bug. There needs to be some drive activity for the firmware update to work. Counter to the usual wisdom, you'll want to do something like run a benchmark on the drive while attempting the firmware update. It worked for me and many others.

Old supply was depleted awhile ago, so any new order you place today regardless of size, will be new revisions.

It's a good idea to update your firmware to M3CR046, from the M3CR045 firmware these new SSDs come with. It fixes a "hang" issue discovered a few months back.

You'll be forced to use Crucial Storage Executive Tool to update the firmware because Crucial doesn't provide the firmware directly.

CSE will not update mine. It just gets an error and like you said, it can't be downloaded anywhere.
