Is it true that if you live in the US and you purchase a Switch from a different region, the warranty is voided?

no, it is NOT true. what voids your warranty is buying a switch from an unauthorized reseller or a marketplace, like ebay. people who claim that their switch wasn't warrantied got their switches from a marketplace reseller or a scalper. market places like ebay are typically the only way to get imported products like the switch because MOST retailers don't ship outside their own country. ebay invoices are not a suitable proof of purchase for any electronic company that i know off

i bought my OLED switch from an EU vendor during the pandemic, when it was sold out everywhere in the US. but i bought it from an authorized reseller, so when one of my joycons broke, nintendo replaced it.

Nintendo does not require a receipt for warranty services. Joycons are not a good example because of the huge drifting issues, Nintendo was lenient toward servicing it.

Google "nintendo switch japan warranty reddit" for real world scenarios for Switch console repairs.

I believe that's usually the case - it's also known as "grey market."

Per Nintendo in case anyone cares.

Can I get my system serviced under warranty in another country/region?

No, the limited warranty is applicable only within the country/region where the system was intended to be sold.
To ensure proper performance, service and support, Nintendo recommends using the Nintendo Switch console in the country where it was purchased.
