After 120 days can we use the s23U on any carrier (just like a unlocked phone) ? Any idea of we travel outside USA during the 120 days, will it void the promotion?
You can immediately use it on any carrier. The phone is not locked at all. Just whatever you do, DO NOT pop that google fi sim card into any other phone. I don't think travelling outside the USA would void it, but confirm with Google Fi support just to be safe. Part of Google Fi's advertising after all, is their international coverage. Hypothetically, if you do accidentally use Google Fi data internationally, you'll pay their international data rates.

I dont understand what this means. Would you mind elaborating. I am not familiar with esim, how they work, and how that relates or helps in this deal.
esim is Electronic SIM, and basically another way to use dual-sim or 2 phone numbers simultaneously on one phone. A lot of people here don't intend on keeping the phone number Google Fi will give you and plan to use this as their primary phone (because not a lot of people like carrying around 2 whole phones). Technically you don't even need the google fi sim card in the phone at all, but there's a potentially unverified false rumor going around that the Google Fi SIM needs to be in the phone or it'll void the promotion and you'll be charged back $600. Whether you want to do the safe route and dual SIM or take the risk and leave the google fi sim card out is up to you.

So your Google Fi phone would need to be unlocked and an eligible phone that supports eSIM and if it is, you would then go into the settings to choose the T-Mobile number to be the primary number and turned

If we set the tmobile number as the primary then would that disqualify you for the gfi promotion?
The phone is unlocked and all newer samsung flagship models since the S20 supports eSIM. Yes, in android settings, type in SIM in the search bar and set tmobile as your primary number for phone/text/data.

No, it shouldn't disqualify you at all. Just because you set Tmobile as primary doesn't mean you're denying Google Fi of service. Even with your tmobile set to primary, your phone will still receive incoming text messages and calls from your Google Fi number.

Yes. in fact you can use it during the 120 days like any unlocked phone once you've activated Fi. it's not carrier locked. yes you can travel outside the US without voiding the promotion

Well, they both run on T-mobile's network so it's pretty much same coverage regardless. The only other way you can potentially save money is hopping over to Visible's $30/monthly unlimited data plan to shave off $5/mo.

The main difference between Google Fi's network and Mint's network is that Fi has a higher priority of service on par with Tmobile's itself. This would come in useful when you're in highly condensed areas such as conventions because your Mint mobile's data would get deprioritized to oblivion due to how many people use Tmobile. The only other benefit to Google Fi is their international coverage and VPN.
Fyi, I personally find Mint's customer service much better than Google's.

So in the end, is $15/mo for more consistent data speeds + international coverage more important to you, or would you rather save that that money for a netflix subscription? For practical reasons I don't find the VPN that useful, but it's a nice peace of mind to know you have it.
I tried Mint a couple years ago, and I never got speeds above 300kbps on LTE, and that was the end of that experiment for me. I had a very similar experience on Visible. On Fi, I rarely have issues getting decent speeds (20mbps) in suburban and urban areas. I even used it successfully in St Thomas when I went on a cruise. I guess it depends on your location. Also, I have Windscribe, so I don't use the Google VPN.

Note that the $50 / month price is for the Simply Unlimited plan that doesn't include international coverage. If you do want the international (other than USA / Canada / Mexico) - the unlimited plus plan is $65 per month for a single line.

Let me make sure I have this right here. If I want this deal I can just:

Get the phone and use the T-Mobile esim trial to port a number over, keep the service for 120 days (so 4 months at 20 bucks so $80 bucks) and then cancel it?

256gb is $600, 512gb is $780? Plus, trade-in value has been reduced significantly?
yes especially since every year i could trade in a 512 ultra for the new one for 800-1000 through smasung. this years prices and trades are abysmal. this is hardly a deal. call me when its 200-400 for decent capacity after trade in

If we add a T-Mobile eSIM into our Google Fi phone, how do we make sure that we can make calls, receive texts, and most importantly ensure that the data used isnt from Fi? I'm on the Google Fi flexible $20 plan.
I'm currently doing this. Sim 1 is Fi and ESIM is tmobile. You have to make the esim primary, and go into your contacts and manually change each one to the fi sim. Only two issues I have had with this. First is you can use Fi VPN, and the other is when sending a mms. You have to select fi sim as primary to send.

Google Fi cancelled my order and did not notify me. I ordered on Feb 7th, is there any chance they would honour it again?

Fi is my main number, so it sends as that number. Also you can't use fi vpn if fi's sim isn't used for data. I just put in a ticket on why it didn't activate. They said working as designed.....

Nope this happened to me too. I ordered during the free ram/ssd promotion but since it was a large amount (4 phones) my credit card company wanted to verify it wasn't fraud. Well they didn't give me a chance to fix it and order was cancelled. Call customer no service and everything is pretty much automated so they don't have to power to reinstate my order or honor the price on a new order. Oh well guess I'll stick with my current carrier.

it comes unlocked. You can pretty much run dual-sim on it immediately as long as your other carrier supports e-sim.
No need to run dual SIM unless you intend to receive calls on your Fi number. Otherwise after the Fi activation, just pull out the Fi SIM card, put it in an envelope and label it 4 months out and dated it as "Cancel Fi Service on……"

Pop in your current cell carrier's SIM card and use it right away anywhere in the world without affecting the promo.

Just do not use the Fi SIM card in any other phone, hence sealing it in a marked envelope. Toss it after you have cancelled the Fi account after 120 days.

I got the phone, actually I'm using it right now to post this comment. I don't know if still the same now, since I got the deal for the pre-sale but actually there was a typo and the Ultra had the same deal as the regular and plus, so it was open to new Fi members AND current customers. So I got my 512 Gb S23 Ultra without trade-in as a current customer for just $600 + tax. Probably that still the case and also current customers can take advantage of the deal.
