This is a rather old device. Came out in 2018.

For the price it is pretty good if you can live with the things left off this model.

Wifi, Strava segments, Power meter, workouts.
Use yours less. Useless reply. The battery of your phone as a GPS will last a lot less than this will for a full day of riding, and if you need assistance you'd be bummed you can't make a call since you used it up. Also, your phone won't give you routes based on a mileage of a ride, which this will. It's a nice feature if your away from home/on vacation and want to get a ride in and don't know where to go. You punch in a mileage and it will give you a loop with a few options in terms of difficulty/traffic.

Oh and in the rare case you have a crash, would you rather wreck your phone worth hundreds of dollars or your $85 gps?

Don't knock it until you've tried it.

I guess social media made it cool to post useless replies...

No need for name calling. Of course a phone can be an alternative to a computer, after all, there are hundreds of phone mounts available for bicycles.

Choosing a computer over a phone is rarely about grams or looks, but more-so about function, usability, and not subjecting your phone to the risks of being on the bars.
we got it. and we also got that we can use a much cheaper android for a much better experience instead of this ancient Garmin. Anyone recommend a big phone bike mount?

The quadlocks are the best but pricey $$$

I use a metal mount I found on ebay. I'm using a cheap samsung phone so I couldn't care less if it gets scratched. But the phone is held tight.

I use a mount very similar to this.
https://www.amazon.com/Out-Front-...YTGPZ?th=1

and I glued the adapter to my phone.
https://www.amazon.com/KOM-Cyclin...B076P316M8

these are just some quick examples I could find. I can't find the original stuff I bought on ebay, but they are slightly better and fit my use case better.

Wanting to buy this but the potentially short 2 to 3 hour battery life some users gotten has kinda turned me off.

Return policy for buydig shows buyer has to pay return shipping, so keep that in mind if you get a dud.

1) Battery - get a battery bank for $15
2) Bike routes - there's an app for that
3) Crash - Otterbox Defender - if your crash breaks your phone with this thing on, you've got bigger problems buddy.

They also start at +$200 so they should be much better. Some people just need the basics and this (or even a cheap phone) will suffice.

Over the years I have accumulated a few phones: Nexus 5, nexus 5x, iPhone 6, iPhone 7, Pixel 2xl, Pixel 3, iPhone 8, iPhone 12. I ride xc Mtb with my old phone and haven't lost/damaged one yet. Batteries are still good and all can last over 5 hours with airplane mode and screen on the whole time. Nexus phones are annoying because when the screen is off the gps is off also. iPhones can only pair with one cadence or one speed BLE sensor, not both.

My favorite is Pixel3. Not too big and no connection issues with all cadence/speed/hrm sensors. Can add multiple sensors so no issue switching bikes. I use wahoo app with Strava push. If I ride a new place, I will pop in a SIM card, otherwise run it no sim mostly. Dropped a few times but survived. I think dropping on dirt is much more forgiving than dropping on concrete.
