Note there are TWO user accessible NVMe PCIe slots on these Grams. So don't overpay for the SSD, just swap it out and stick a second one in for storage while you're at it. RAM is not user accessible though, so whatever you buy you're stuck with. My wife and I love our 16" Grams!
If you're a heavy gamer, do NOT buy the Gram. It does NOT have a solid dGpU. It's iGPU is fine for simple gaming, but this laptop was not built for gaming.
If you're a hardcore developer that needs more than 16GB RAM, this is NOT for you.
Target users are business users that travel frequently. LG Gram value proposition is:
super lightweight
long battery life
powerful processor
Most ultrabooks are superior in one or two of the above, but not all three.
What 17" laptop do you know with the latest Intel processors with a battery life that can REALLY TRULY last longer than 10 hours STRAIGHT USAGE yet still under 3lbs??
Most 15" laptops are 5lbs+!!!!
When I'm traveling, every backpacker knows that every pound counts. More so having to carry a brick of a power adapter that's probably an additional pound or two itself.
What laptop do you know can realistically last longer than 4 hours (without having to turn off Bluetooth and wifi and turning it down to the lowest brightness level)??
This sucker lasts longer than ELEVEN HOURS! It could probably go beyond 12 hours but the longest I've ever personally needed to use it was 11 hours.
The 17" Gram can last longer than eleven hours STRAIGHT with full bluetooth/wifi on highest brightness with Spotify playing in the background constantly while working/browsing/etc.
While traveling, if you don't have constant access to a power outlet (think trains, buses, non-Jetblue planes, long car rides, international non-Asian airports), and you need a laptop that will last you a solid REAL (not theoretical) 11 hours, get a Gram.
What laptop do you know can last more than 4 hours max without having to put it on lowest brightness and turning off Bluetooth and Wifi??
The cons are:
-it can overheat
-LG purposefully limited the CPU power, which handicaps the CPUs true potential power
-RAM soldered on so no upgrading to 32GB or more
Because of the CPU limiting, the i5 is a much better buy for $100 to $250 savings. The i7 has been significantly limited and its performance is equivalent to an i5.
If you like to travel light and your usage is spreadsheets, Outlook email, youtube videos, there is no better laptop.
And lastly, no, I do not work for LG or have any equity in the company
I've bought lots of stuff from them over the years, including items that cost $2,000+. Legend has it, it was started by B&H people who moved over to Elizabeth, NJ, so people in NYC didn't have to pay sales tax. It's a reputable shop.

what are common complaints on the 14" size? seems to have a good port selection and great size/weight. i know the chassis is flexible but doesn't seem like a deal breaker to me.
hoping it drops to this price at Costco for the i7 and the easier return policy
What specific issues have you had? I had weaker wifi reception with one compared to other laptops, but otherwise, it was stellar. Runs cool, fast, super light, great screen. Please explain in order to be of any help.

Costco has had the 14" with the same i7 this 17" has for $799. It's been going up and down every few weeks.
I bought it and I don't have any complaints other than the speakers, but I'm not ever going to judge any laptop computer speakers because they're all tiny. I know some are better than others and these seem like bad speakers suffering from even worse placement but I'll take the battery life and speed improvements over my older computer and be happy.
I have never purchased anything from BuyDig. Are they reputable?
