The fan is really loud on this. I'm hoping to be able to reduce this with some settings.

Dell refurbished is old. This i3 cpu is faster than those 8th gen i7 cpu. This has an empty slot that can add at least one 8g ram. I think you can add up to 32g.
Precisely. This is PLENTY powerful. He doesn't know what he's talking about.

Picked up one of these only to have such a bad experience with it. First off, who on the Windows team thought having typing sounds on by default was a good idea?

I ended up returning this though. Third party support unless you want to shell out additional money, but the biggest reason is they counted the 1-year warranty from DATE OF MANUFACTURE, not date of purchase. In my case that gave me a 7-month warranty. They offered to give me the year from purchase but ended up denying the request two days later.
Could you quote the language in the warranty policy that says that the warranty period begins on the day of manufacture?

I bought another Lenovo model in January, and the warranty policy on mine reads as follows:

"The warranty period for the product starts on the original date of purchase as shown on your sales receipt or invoice or as may be otherwise specified by Lenovo."

Maybe the language of the warranty period is different for the OP product, and if so, I would like to see it.

The laptop has 5.7 hours battery life when brand new, which Target rounded to 6 hours on its website. But battery life degrades over time, so it'd be even worse once you used the laptop over the years. And even worse than that if you used it for computationally-intensive tasks. All of my other laptops are 8 hrs+ battery life, even my cheap ASUS with similar specs.

67 comments on this deal and yet I'm the first to talk about battery life, so I hope I helped inform others who were considering this deal!

Ignore the reviews on the Target website, half of them are from people who got the item as a promotion to write the review and many of the reviews aren't even for this item. One person writes about how he loves the touchscreen (clearly isn't this laptop) and one person says they wish it had a backlit keyboard (which it does). So it looks like target mixed together the reviews from many different lenovo models together.

I think they typically default to date of manufacture when there is no proof of purchase.

Is it TN or IPS display? It says TN under Highlights and IPS under Specs. Can someone who recently bought this confirm?

Warranty starts from the purchase date. If the warranty is wrong, then people can submit a receipt to Lenovo and Lenovo will adjust it.

It's TN 250 nits. It's fine if you are going to look at the screen straight and not from the sides. 🤣

Would you buy this or the $399 costco 2 in 1 laptop?
This one. It's 100 bucks cheaper and it can be a POS laptop. Meaning a laptop that if you drop or damage you wouldn't care too much about it. This is perfect to take everywhere and if it breaks it was only 300...
