Thanks for the reminder OP!
Registration is not required where I'm at. Just show up.
Many times you can come by a day or two later ask for a few kits. HD staff will give them to you.

Not at all true. A simple search for Lowes Kids right here on slickdeals shows that this month was a note holder, last month was a picture frame, and the month before was something christmas tree/ornament related.

Doable. Thing about Home Depot kits is that you normally have to paint them (Lowe's kits use mostly stickers). Lot of time goes by drying the paint. But 1 hour 15 minutes should be enough I would say.

Also, you can just take the kits home if you like and build them at your own convenience.

9-12 just means you can arrive between those times. We are usually there 30 mins max.

Has HD been doing them recently? I've only seen Lowes ones lately but I dont have a Lowe's nearby, so I had been skipping them. Maybe I just need to check HD myself if so

My son has been doing these since about 4. He's now 10. It's getting a bit easy for him but still enjoyable. I think 12 or 13 is the absolute oldest for these to still be entertaining. Way too easy for older kids. However, maybe you can swing by and ask for 3 kits and your teenager can build something completely different and creative out of 3 kits, etc!

Is HD supposed to charge $5 usually?

Mine never charges for our monthly visits.

Online, it's $5 to have it shipped/picked up. First Saturday of the month, show up and it's free. And if they still have kits left over after that Saturday, just ask and sometimes they can go get one and it's free too.
