All Motorola phones are factory unlocked. However, it is sold by Tracfone thru HSN so Tracfone locks the service to Tracfone. Tracfone allows unlocking after 60 days of service. It is very easy to unlock it then online with Tracfone, as they will provide you with 2 long codes that you enter and then Tracfone releases it.

It's Moto G Power 2022, a much better phone with 64GB and 4GB, 5000mAh battery.

Potentially important detail: after 60 days of service on a given SIM (i.e. if you move to another SIM the clock seems to reset).

dont do it guys. 720p in 2023
720p is fine, it is only being small cores (a53 nothing else) which is the limitation.

not sure which is better but I would have taken this deal for 50 bucks less. I do like the A23 though, nice phone.
You are much better off!

I used to have Tracfone as my backup phone, works fine until they got acquired by Verizon and forced a change to their network from T-Mobile. Now I can't even make a call since signal is so bad. I'm not in the middle of nowhere either.

Does this support wifi calling with tracfone?

Just remember that it's possible Verizon could change policy at any time now that they own TF - just like they recently did by lowering the value of Rewards pts for adding new lines.
No warning at all.
There's also the possibility something could be wrong with phone or plan doesn't get added correctly - HSN only has 30 days to return so you'd be stuck with it.
The phone come directly from TF, the return also go directly to TF.
HSN is just the middleman, and won't help either way.

My current Tracfone 365 day plan expires mid April. Should I get this deal and wait until the current plans almost expires and then activate to combine existing and new in order to keep existing TracFone number that I currently have? Thanks.
You can activate right away and immediately "combine" the service into an existing line. However, the phone will not unlock.

Alternatively, you can activate right away and wait 60 days before combining the balances. You lose out on two months of service, but you will then have a unlocked phone that you can sell or use with a different service.

I am new to HSN and Tracfone. I require a spare phone and number after May and was wondering if such deals come time to time or if I should jump in now and activate the device later.
don't ever play the "activate later" game.
TF is so bad as it is. you don't want to be stuck with a useless phone with no service and can't return.

Never called once. Chat is the way to go, never had a problem.
I did chat, they told me it was not possible to merge my minutes/data/txts/service over to my main line with 2 active lines, I probably wasted 30min, I havnt tried calling yet, but thats my next step. Years ago, probably around 2016, I bought a new phone like this deal, activated keeping same number, then moved everything back to old phone a few days later. And they messed up my minutes, txt, data, service. I ended up having to do what another person said to get them to fix it, had to threaten to report them to BBB, and the next day I got a call from customer service and they fixed most of my problems, except I did lose 1 year of service time, so I got screwed still but not as bad as I was getting screwed.

Clickbait title. Left out "First purchase" requirement for coupon. TD

Not sure you were looking for this answer...

As far as HSN is conserved everyone with a new email address is making a "first purchase".

You can add it now or in April because it adds the new bag of minutes, text, and data at the end of your present phone total. I Usually add mine at the first of the year even if I have several months on the phone out of habit. Just a precaution you may want to save your present totals before you add in case there is a glitch so you don't lose your totals. I once used customer service to add my new minutes and they lost everything from the original phone. After several agents they got it right. When I add it myself via the website I have had no problem but I still record my present phone totals in case.

This has a Mediatek Helio chipset and not Snapdragon based.. cheap and unreliable chinese tech.. I'm gonna pass.
MediaTek is Taiwanese and both Qualcomm and MediaTek use TSMC (another Taiwanese company) to manufacture the actual chips. If you want to avoid all Taiwanese-made hardware you probably won't have a phone (or a computer) for that matter.

I have both of these phones and agree. This phone is just ok for basic communications stuff but keep
your expectations low.

Android Central confirms that the 2022 G Power lags when opening apps and loading web pages. The MediaTek Helio processor is inferior to the Snapdragon 665 that was in the 2020 G Power.

The 2022 also has a downgraded display resolution. It's only 720p.

What if you "activate right away and immediately "combine" the service into an existing line" but use the new phone? Can you unlock after 60 days?
