The 6-1 Xl is wider but it's a lot shallower and your meat may hit the splash guard.

First, the probe sometimes isn't even recognized. For instance, if you use the preset grill mode for med rare beef, it'll say to plug in the probe even if it's already plugged in. Eventually, it seems to recognize it.
Secondly, and more importantly, the probe has gotten waaaay off in its accuracy. A few weeks ago I was making some prime ribeyes and set the grill to 2nd level rare. I noticed the internal was hanging around 100 degrees for far too long and took the steaks off. Sure enough, I ended up with well-done $40 steaks. 😟

If you put the grill under the hood it will be the same. If you have it somewhere else (which I think most people do) then nothing is vented.

I found that putting the basket in the oven when we do the self clean function and it bakes that grease off! I'm sure that also affects the coating on the basket though.
But for $60, I hope the one I get comes in OK shape. I like the meat probe feature but didn't want to pay the extra like $100 when this was a brand new product. Just buying the accessories for these are more than $60 so hopefully we get lucky on this - otherwise I'll return it.
