Have this same one that I got about 3 years ago. The battery began to only last a few hours Socializing that it is really challenging to replace the battery. You can get a kit for about $100 and roll the dice if you don't break something doing it yourself or else it costs like $200 to have someone else do it.

Bought my SP7 Pro in early 2020; runs fast and smooth and I have no desire to upgrade anytime soon. The new ones have cleaner bezels and run on 12th gen, but mine handles what I use it for (picture editing, documents, movie streaming, light gaming, etc). I paid $1500 after taxes for mine which was a steal at the time from Costco. This is a great deal for the same model as mine with double the SSD storage.

Don't think they ever fixed the battery life issue on this. SP6 and SP7+ both had much better battery life.

How bad is it? This seems like a pretty darn good price.

Good price, battery will not last long I guess. 4hrs at most. Since these have been sitting somewhere for at least 2-3 years, battery time should be even less.

Surface 7 -- iFixit rates it a 1/10 for repair. Long story short -- spend more money on something you can actually fix, like an ultraportable Lenovo X1 Carbon.

I have a premium Surface Book 1, and the battery is starting to puff up. You have to apply a considerable amount of heat to the screen to unglue it, but the compromised battery is right under said screen. You get it too hot, you'll damage the laptop -- or worse, cause a lithium fire. Out of all the ways to earn a skin graft, it's not the most enjoyable.

So, I take it to the Microsoft Store (only one remaining in North America) to be serviced. They don't service them, but they charge $600 for a refurb swap. The machine is worth about $100-250 on ebay. MSFT doesn't care about you or the environment.

Apple charges $200 for replacement battery service in their Macbook Pro line. Not $600. And they give your laptop back!

Lenovo -- get the right screwdriver, a plastic spudger to remove a single ribbon cable, and a $50-100 battery from Amazon/ebay. And about 30 minutes of your time, if you work slowly.
