Worked decent, until it didn't.
After about a 6 months something went awry with controller, takes several power cycles to get the lights to work and have the system not beep, and even then the light randomly turns on and off instead of the scheduled cycle, and the power & schedule buttons no longer work.
I have on my todo list to disassemble and direct wire lights and pump to put on external timer if I can figure out how to bypass the right circuitry.

Update: on learning about the somewhat unexpected 1year warranty I contacted idoo and they sent a replacement light unit which corrected the problem.

I bought this last time. The build quality is terrible. Get an aerogarden.

This is the one i recommend for 12pods:

They are similar, but the biggest advantage of this one is the larger 6.5L water tank

I got one based on my brother's recommendation. Still deciding where to place it. Kitchen, windowsill patio etc

I have the same problem. You have to lower the light all the way then readjust it to the height you want. Pretty annoying, and if you raise it all the way it beeps at you and doesn't work to its schedule again.

All in all, I like mine, but don't love it compared to my diy hydroponics. I use it just to start plants now, and transplant them when they're old enough.

I also got mine for $35, which it used to be often.

Would it be possible at all to grow mini pears or apples in these or better off getting a tree for outside?

Similar experience. Had this exact unit for ~6 months and died. The electrical connection got water and shorted. It's a poor design in my opinion. I was great while it worked but I would stay clear of this model. Maybe try another version.

I also had problems with this one. I got a 10 pod model by idoo and has been working flawlessly for a year, fingers crossed.

Tell me more...
Do you mean DIY AeroGarden or DIY actual hydroponics?

Curious about a good site to research a DIY AeroGarden size setup.

assuming you're serious, no, it is impossible grow a little tree in one of these. Except maybe a bonsai, but assume you would have to be constantly trimming it… Even if it were possible, it's much better to get an actual tree in the ground. Less fussy care(i assume, never having tried one of these), More nutrition, more produce, more beauty, more time outside. But there are other fruit trees that are much easier,That you can pretty much ignore once established

I've had this since June (purchased for $35) and it has been working great. Based on other's responses I am guessing the quality control leaves something to be desired.
