Maybe consider the user's use case before going on a tangent about how this is a waste of money.
To add, this SPECIFIC model has really good reviews as an inkjet printer especially for the occasional photo print. It's a solid purchase at this price point.

Just wanted to give my experience. This printer has good reviews so maybe mine was just a dud but boy what a dud it was.
Apparently Windows 11 does not like my '00 era Dell color laser, so I started researching.
This one got very good reviews from everything I read, including Rtings.
I have a very good large format inkjet photo printer that sits idle 98% of the time, and of course has clogged up completely (I can unclog, but it's a huge pain, requires manual cleaning, soaking print heads in vinegar, etc).
The reason I have not pulled trigger on this one to date is that while I do like the IDEA of being able to print the occasional photo, in REALITY I almost never do it anymore.
Moreover, if you're going to print a photo, you should do it right IMO. This only has a 4 cart system vs the 6 carts of dedicated photo printers, so you will be missing quite a bit of dynamic and color range.
OTOH…$140!!
I'm thinking I may just go ahead and get this and probably get rid of the large format. The photos were stunning from that, but I just don't print enough to justify the maintenance and ink cost.
If you're just printing snapshots, a cheap 4 color like this one should be fine.
Out of stock online but might be in stock in your local warehouse if you have a membership. If not, I think this one is very similar though not the exact same and doesn't have the extra ink: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/epso...Id=64693

that cost a fraction of Canon brand, so that point is moot. I'd recommend this without hesitation...especially at this price point.
I could see worksheets if you homeschool maybe...

Shipping labels when you return stuff. Passport application, letters you need notarized, boarding passes (better to have a printed boarding pass when traveling internationally, not mobile)
a significant portion of work from home and that involves a heavy amount of printing on a regular basis. It has more to do with your employment than it has to do with your "Gen".

Perhaps a lot of folks just aren't aware of modern workflows / aren't very tech savvy, which is what I suspected.

Sounds like your employer needs to modernize!
My point generationally is I'm not a y/Zoomer who might've grown up never printing. I killed some forests back in the day.

Even normal store returns, if i can mail back for free i will most of the time... not having to step foot in a mall? YES PLEASE!
That's my main problem these days, printing is so sparse that an inkjet is a poor choice for that... when i want to use them, the heads are gunked to all hell and it'll never print again. It's silly, but I've been waiting for another sale on a laser printer for just this reason.
p.s. how's the air all the way up there on that horse?
