Don't buy this printer. The inks dry out quickly and if you don't use OEM inks (which are expensive; try Costco.com) the prints come out mediocre at best. Don't even THINK about printing photos - it'll be much cheaper if you send your prints to CVS or Walgreens.

I'll never buy another inkjet printer again. If I want color I'll get a color laser printer - they may be more expensive but I wouldn't have to deal with clogs or inks drying out.

In the past month I've replaced 6 ink jet printers with lasers. They don't make any money on the printers, only the overpriced cartridges. I've have many clients and friends that have yet to replace the initial laser cartridge after a year. It's worth the initial investment. You'll save so much more in the long run. For the most part, Ink cartridges last around 300-500 pages, laser cartridges last around 2000-5000 pages and they won't dry up if there printer sits in the closet for a year.

Laser color quality is NOWHERE close to inkjet if your printing photos or high quality images.... As for ink drying out it happens, but that's why a lot of manufactures now have the print head in the cartridge so if a certain cartridge drys out just have to replace that ink cartridge. Other manufactures like Canon also have ink cycling in effect so you leave your printer on at all times and it will occasionally cycle the inks to prevent drying.

My oldschool Canon Pixma MG5220 I believe the model was lasted me over 6 years before I finally sold it to someone for $20 cause I wanted to get something newer. Thats after going through countless 3rd party inks and it sometimes sitting for a few months at a time between prints.

Pretty sure no because it mentions a permanent printhead in one of the product details.

Have to take into account this is a $60 printer with slower prints so they never really got fancy with it. This printer looks like its for an average user who prints a few prints a week at max or like once or twice a month. More high quality printers will cost you around $150 when on sale.

Inkjet is not junk it has a completely different purpose compared to laser, laser is high yield average to good quality prints, inkjet is low yield good to high quality prints like photos and marketing items.

Printer buy cost isn't bad, but replacement cartridges cost "Epson - 212 Multi-pack Standard Capacity Ink Cartridges" are about $45.00!

The Epson Ecotank printers are great. They come with a ton of ink in the box and replacement bottles are cheap. I used to get the Pixma printers but the ink cartridges were robbery. As soon as I got an ecotank I was done with cartridge printers.
I have an ET-2500 which is an older model but it printed thousands of black and white pages and the family printed as many full page and 4x6 photos and they come out great.

I remember my old printer will not print black and white if the color cartage is empty/dry.

Got a laser printer and never looked back.
