In my case there was no confirmation message for the second code when I applied it, but it did reflect in the invoice and, as noted above, my total was correct, so all is well. Smilie

My CC company declined the charge the first time and Dell did not alert me and even sent me the order confirmation email with the PDF attached. The order status online showed the payment issue though.

Had to call my CC company's Fraud Department to unblock it and then submit a whole new order.
Delivery date range is now 1 day later than my original order Oh well...
I had ordered an Asus TUF F15 for pick up at Microcenter, but this seems better. Saw the Asus in person and passed, knowing I had ordered the Alienware.
The latter weighs a lot more, but will mainly be a desktop replacement. My Predator served me well till now...
I do not game on computers, so not worried about heat issues, if any.

Delivery date range on the original order was Mar 7 till 12 or so; the new order shows Mar 8 to 13 I think. Will check in a bit. Typing this on my phone...

Unbelievable price. How is the display and thermals? And if it runs hot...any way to bring those down by undercoating or anything? I won't need full power, but I'm afraid the cram on the 3050ti would cripple it. And I'm not sure if the 3050 runs cooler than the 3060 or not. Anyway, great find OP
To bring thermals down u can do a few things 1 is redo the thermal paste with high performance paste 2 use a laptop cooler that forces air thru the system 3 keep it cleaned . The laptop cooler is the best option That has had solid results I have an older model but the design of the laptop is still the same

I do not game and I ordered this laptop mainly as a desktop replacement in a fixed location.
I do not plan to run it on battery power, unless there is a power outage; however in that case I do have 2 other laptops with good battery life that I switch to during the outage (my router and wifi system are plugged into a Battery Backup UPS).

That said, reading reviews for the m15 R7, battery life, despite the high battery capacity, is very disappointing (although I found one promising post by someone who reinstalled Windows after removing all the Dell / Alienware software, including Command Center.

Below is a quote from member Ciz1n in a Dell forum:
https://www.dell.com/community/us.../116839921
"What worked for me was to reinstall windows 11 and remove all dell software and Alienware command center. I can oc with msi afterburner and widows seems to mange thermals just fine as I've noticed no performance loss during games and can now get 5 to 7 hours of battery browsing and watching videos."

Reviews for this i7-12700H variant (all had the 3070 Ti GPU though):
https://www.gamesradar.com/alienw...r7-review/
https://www.techradar.com/reviews...15-r7-2022
https://techpp.com/2022/11/09/del...r7-review/

The following review of the Ryzen 6800H and 3060 gave it 4.5/5 and "Class-leading battery life" of "nearly 9 hours".
I know the Intel 12th Gen H series battery life is noticeably worse that the Ryzen 6800H, but Is the difference really that HUGE? I am seeing only 4 hours of battery life reported with the Intel variant and 3070 Ti).

That said, for my use case (i.e. not expecting to use it on battery power much), I think the Intel 12700H variant I ordered still (hopefully) makes more sense than the Ryzen 6800H since the Intel outperforms the Ryzen significantly in multi-core benchmarks and it has what I need.

Anyway, the AMD version, for the sale price, comes with a 3050Ti to get the sale price (not a 3060).

EDIT - I will be sticking with the i7, since it the AMD version (the config on sale for $999 before coupons), by virtue of coming with an RTX 3050Ti (the others are $600 more and up) ONLY has 1 SSD slot:
https://www.dell.com/support/manu...lang=en-us

The following table lists the internal slots of your Alienware m15 R7 AMD.
Table 1. Internal slots
One M.2 2230 slot for WiFi and Bluetooth combo card
One M.2 2230/2280 slot for solid-state drive , for computers with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics card
Two M.2 2230/2280 slots for solid-state drives, for computers with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060/3070 Ti/3080 Ti graphics card
NOTE To learn more about the features of different types of M.2 cards, search in the Knowledge Base Resource at www.dell.com/support.

Per the following page, the RTX3060 version of this laptop has TWO SSD slots. However it is not clear if BOTH SSD slots support M.2 2280 drives, or one slot supports an M.2 2280 drive and the other slot only supports a 2230 drive?

Can someone confirm which type of SSD each of the two slots supports?

https://www.dell.com/support/manu...lang=en-us

Table 1. Internal slots:

One M.2 2230 slot for WiFi and Bluetooth combo card

One M.2 2230/2280 slot for solid-state drive, for computers shipped with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics card

Two M.2 2230/2280 slots for solid-state drive, for computers shipped with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060/3070 Ti/3080 Ti graphics card.

Update - Per the service manual, it seems both SSD slots can accommodate either a 2280 or 2230 (an adjustment may be needed to the position of the screw mount due to the different physical dimensions of the drives 2280 vs 2230).

To any owners of this laptop, would you let me know how many m.2 slot does this laptop have?
I purchased a Dell G16 and it has only 1 slot. My Acer Nitro 7 has 3 slots.

Thanks!

Could repasting with kryonaut fix it?
There is nothing to FIX.
I have the M15 R7 3060 with QHD 1tb 16gb .. I am typing on this, got it earlier this week. The fans can SCREAM at 63C CPU and 85% fan is stupid.

Alienware Command Center you can change that. I am typing this to you right now with 46C CPU / 30C GPU both fans are 0% . Quiet as can be.

EVERY laptop should be on a laptop cooler a beveled lift up off the table so air can flow under the laptop easilly, mine is not even plugged in. EVERY laptop needs to be on a laptop cooler.

I HAVE opened to view inside, I am not going to attempt to do the extensive removal of board to see the cooling on this or do thermal paste.. atleast not intil I decide to actually keep the laptop (2 week return at BestBuy .. they had it in stock and price matched Dell - the two codes unfortunately. so $1299.99 at the time )
I have bought from Dell a 3 year top of the line accidental pro warranty. ($349).

What I don't like, windows 11. Just don't like it.. power scemes are not a choice from power save.. to full performance.. win 11 messes with it.. but you can chose the performance in alienware software.

also, Bestbuy/dell. Bestbuy is the first owner. Laptop is registered the date the crate drops at the dock of bestbuy's door, 200 days passed on my warranty showing 7 months left of my service tag.. So bestbuy didn't register the new owner as Bestbuy is a reseller .. dell is saying different. So, the end result was, My service tag was changed to show 1 year.. ok good.. but extended warranty ( you can have 5 years on this ) is only allowed me to buy 4 years as dell doesn't offer half a year warranty, considering this tag shows 200 days old already... no matter what.

Bestbuy is going WAAAAAAAAAY down hill. Today, I was going to go for the 3070ti version on dell website but the sale is gone and the 10% code expired so .. im not happy about that. IF i find something else, I will return ONLY because of that already pre owned 200 days ( on a new sealed Alienware at Bestbuy) .. That is disturbing.

Bestbuy,
You can not call ANY store, Live phone chat can't .. live chat cant.. you can only email a store, and my local store has not returned 2 emails requesting them call me.
Bestbuy is done imho. Done.

Best deals I have seen is newegg and Dell. Bestbuy don't pricematch newegg that tells you something. BUT newegg is iffy on returns ( I guess? from history ).
-- I haven't bought anything from newegg in years myself.

Well there you go. You CAN upgrade ram size in this, not soldered.
there is 2 M.2 slots the same as each other, and a bracket to move to fit smaller sticks.
The ram that came in mine is 1rx16 but 351 secondary timings.
The m.2 drive is 1tb and samsung and scores are read: 7095.94 / write: 5195.86 (SEQ1M Q8T1) Crystal disk mark.
1 pass multi Cinebench R23 with i7 12700 is 18627.
10 min pass was 16035
3DMark Time Spy score 9503
Graphics 8986
cpu 14112

Fire Strike score 20325
GPU score 21942
Physics score 29073
Combined 10143

CPU-Z Bench
single 738.8
Multi 8066.5

Again my Alienware M15 R7 specs are
i7 12600
RTX 3060
16gb ddr5 4800
1Tb PCIe 4x4
QHD 2560 x 1440, 240Hz
Killer wifi

I am confused on something. Mine has a keyboard when you start it up it goes into a RGB wave. Which is an option to set your keyboard at.
I don't know if I have 1 zone or per key... but! the settings allows you to change as a zone, the number keys, qwer key.. the WSAD keys.. F keys.. different color then the rest of the keyboard, Right now I have teal keys and WSAD are white.. So is that one zone? per key? who knows.

You can change the rear oval llight, alien head both on deck and back .

I found a pict of the cover off for you to view. it is not mine. But looks the same.

Mine is out for delivery, but I will be returning it and getting a desktop instead (first desktop in ages) unless I can find a laptop that can be used safely with the lid closed without overheating...

The reason is I need to use this PC as a desktop replacement with two external monitors, so the lid would need to be closed while in use so as not to block the monitors.
However, the lid on this m15R7 (like many / some current laptops) cannot be closed while in use due to the heat vents on top of the keyboard deck which cannot be obstructed.Frown

My old Predator laptop does not have this limitation since it only vents out the back.
