Undesirability is a personal preference issue.
I'm fine with the green, because I bought this same green Apple Watch about a month ago.
If somebody has greenphobia, then I suppose they can always spend $50 more if having another color is that important to them. To me, it wasn't, but others may have a different opinion of course.

In other words, it's not a much better deal. It's much worse.
One thing I was curious about with the cell version is that I'm sure I'll need a new line with my carrier but is there a whole new phone number that is assigned? ie. If my current number is 555-555-5555 (and attached to my iPhone & iCloud/iMessage acccount) and the watch gets a new line that is assigned 777-777-7777, does any call I make from the watch show up as 777-777-7777 or is there some sort of "Magic" that allows the call to show up from my iPhone's assigned number of 555-555-5555?
Or is there some way the carrier can dual assign my main 555-555-5555 number to both the iPhone and Watch at the same time? . . . I'm sure they'll still charge me either way but just curious.

They didn't price match but offered it for 290.
