Deal History

I paid just over this price at the start of the pandemic. Then they doubled it during the pandemic.
They were great at the start, but over time some of them plastic started cracking on the plates… and I haven't been dropping them or slamming them. The dumbbells are reasonable sturdy when using, however the higher the weight, the more the rattle when using. The plates also stick sometimes and that just gets annoying.
Overall, I'd say at $200 for a set I personally got a lot of use out of these. They're worth the $250, but I'd never pay more then that. The fact that they bumped it up and tried charging people $400+ for a set is insane!
Can someone explain to me why all dumb bells are so ridiculously expensive? There is perhaps $0.50 of metal and $1 of plastic/rubber coating in them yet some are HUNDREDS of dollars?

Yeah? You mean luxury watches, despite being comprised of less than 1 pound of metal shouldn't be charged $15,000?? Just make your own bro, buckets of cured concrete is extremely cheap and so is the lead pipe sold at home Depot, get at it champ.
But joking aside, it wasn't too long ago when $1/per pound was considered deal territory. Its all predicated on energy and logistical cost of delivering said item.

I see the point you're trying to make but I don't think a luxury watch with hundreds of tiny and very precise components compares at all to a dumbbell that would not need very tight tolerances or precision and would not be difficult to produce.
Size: Fuel > Bowflex
I like this over bowflex because it shaped more like a dumbbell and each weight setting is more "true" to size. Bowflex, no matter what setting you put, you end up having to deal with the full length of the weight… kinda annoying if youre only lifting like 10lbs.
Weight adjustment: Fuel > Bowflex
Adjusting the weight is way easier, you just twist the handle on each and done, so if you want to up the weight on the fly this is much quicker. Bowflex, uses dials on the side, so it's a little annoying.
Rack: Bowflex > Fuel/CORE
You can get a bowflex rack at Costco for $99 and it has a couple of extra features like phone/tablet stand. Hard to find a Fuel or stand at your local store, only see them online under the CORE brand.
Cons:
45/50lbs: if the platform isn't secure, it tends to require you to step on the weight when lifting heavier weights.
10lbs: all the set weights are balanced except for this setting… it has a 3/4 plate so it's constantly balancing itself
This is basically the same as the CORE brand if you want round versions, but of course it's not on sale.
Hope this helps.
