To be fair almost all budget mattresses have fiberglass not just zinus, it was because one family made a big deal about it after they tore one apart at their home and all the fiberglass got into everything in their home that people started thinking about how crazy it was. Fiberglass is used for flame resistance and a thermal barrier between surfaces.
I do find it strange that the industry hasn't modernized to use more safe modern fiberglass formula's or at least just removed it from their product entirely because it actually costs more to implement. Its kinda goofy that people even need to add flame resistance to their beds, seems more like an old world thing that carried over from when people used to hide money in their mattresses.

Its because dummies smoke in their beds while drunk...pass out and catch their beds on fire. It wasn't to protect the money...

Don't buy Zinus brand products. They've been known to have fiberglass in their mattresses which cause all sorts of health issues.

Yes. Almost all mattresses do. I did so much research to find one that is budget friendly and without fiberglass. I landed on Mellow which is supposedly fiberglass free

I have a Zinus wood frame bed and it seems pretty great. I don't have any fabric products though

Most mattresses have fiberglass in them these days. I will get downvoted for this but you can see for yourself if you own a tempurpedic mattress. Very clearly says "glass fibers" on the tag. Fiberglass is an effective flame retardant.

if you go on the tempurpedic website and ask if their mattress contains fiberglass they will say no. It's some BS loophole because the mattress does not contain fiberglass but it is contained with in the fire sock barrier or whatever it is called.

The only guaranteed way to get the mattress you want without fiberglass seems to be to buy your own mattress components wholesale, as well as a mattress cover. Looked into it and it doesn't seem all that difficult and you can effectively build your own mattress with no flame retardant in it.

It's not budget mattresses, it is memory foams in general. Tempurpedic uses it too. it hink mattresses specifically and not other furniture have to go through fire safety testing and unfortunately foams are very flammable. Fiberglass is the most effecitive way to combat fire

Zinus just did a horrible job with the fiberglass. I never moved my hybrid spring mattress or took the cover off, and fiberglass was falling off and getting everywhere. Even came through the sheets. I'd itch all over every night.

I've had mine for 6 months and have had zero issues with that.

Thanks. SO reading it loooks like it is only an issue if you destroy the mattress, and specifically the flame barrier/fiberglass component?

If you're not opening your mattress's cover, you probably don't have to worry about fiberglass. What Zinus did on some of their mattresses that was really stupid was putting a zipper on the mattress's cover - which kinda invites you to take it off - and not having anything else encasing the fiberglass layer. Most mattresses with a fiberglass layer have to be cut open to get to it.
