First post. Happy to add any missing information.

Tom's Hardware lists this as "class-leading all-around performance"

I'm still seeing 89.99. You have to make sure the vendor is microcenter. It may be regional. Dunno.

I bought from Amazon because my local MC only had one and I didn't want to miss it. Prefer to support the local MC when possible.

Only shows up at 89.99 if you're logged in with a Prime account. Kind of weird, they used to show me both member and non-member prices. Now I have to sift through sellers to find the Amazon sponsored listing where it says "Join Prime to buy this item at $89.99"

I bought the p44 pro for a productivity workstation (primarily data processing/analysis). Reviews suggest this is currently the best drive for that purpose.

For casual gaming, it's overkill. There are lots of great deals on good mid-range drives and it's unlikely you'd be able to tell a difference.

Avoid QLC if it's your only drive. There are plenty of good TLC options around the price of the P41 plus, like the SN770 for $60.
