I have been debating between these and the subwoofer-less Jamo 5.0 set on Woot[woot.com] for $150. Any feedback from someone who's had a listen to both?

Many years ago I heard this Energy setup and was surprised at how good it sounded. Many Amazon reviews seem to agree. I think back then several professional audio reviewers gave high marks to this speaker system, given its price point. The Amazon listing says it was a CNET Editor's Choice winner in Feb 2009.
I've never heard anything by Jamo before, so unfortunately I can't help you there. That being said, I much prefer buying via Amazon as opposed to Woot, so all things being equal, Energy system via Amazon would be my choice. Easy returns via Amazon if ya really don't like it…
Good luck and happy listening!!

Ok, I just did some recon… and it seems those Jamo's have very good feedback too… even by CNET. It seems you can't go wrong either way
I'm sure you know this, but the thing about audio gear, especially speakers, is what sounds great to your ears is what matters most. And to make it more challenging, the same system can sound vastly different in different rooms, so if you hear the system at someone else's place, it might not sound the same at yours. Uuugh.
If at all possible, can you somehow "audition" both sets then return the one you don't like as much? I know, that would be a pain to do, but in the end, you'll for sure know which set works best for your ears
Unless you're limited on budget/space you should just get full size bookshelf speakers. I had the RC Micro set from Energy (supposedly a more premium version of these) many years ago when I first started getting into surround and they really only sounded good near field in my bedroom. Speakers this size are lacking in bass and volume capability. Modern soundbars are probably comparable to these sets in terms of quality and they are easier to use.
I have the Energy soundbar and sub in my living room. Quality is excellent. Haven't listened to Jamo sadly. That said, both brands are owned by Klipsch now so I would expect fairly equal footing in terms of sound quality and signature.
i HAVE HAD THE ENERGY 5.1 SET FOR OVER A YEAR BUT HAVE YET TO GET THE SUBWOOFER TO WORK CORRECTLY.. This could very well be due to my inexperience with home audio. I have it pluuged into a Denon AVRS730H. I've tried different cables, etc. I think I have discovered that the subwoofer is very sensitive to being near an electricazl outlet even though it's a powered unit. Otherwise, the satellites are fantastic alone even without the subwoofer. Just wish I could figure out how to get it to work right. Too much distortion. Sounds better without it entirely.
I still have these speakers. Bought them many many years ago when they were still selling regularly. The sub is ok, could be better, but you can always get a better sub, which is what I did. I use them with my PC and have a little surround sound setup on my PC with these.
I ordered my Energy 5.1 Take Classic Home Theater System on June 28, 2015 and I used it daily until around Nov 8, 2022. At that time I upgraded to the Jamo Studio Series S 803 system. I was overall really happy with the Energy kit but I moved to a new home and the room with my TV was much larger and it really seemed to be pushing the limits of what the Energy system could do. After reading reviews and watching some Youtube videos I gave the Jamo's a try. HUGE difference. The speakers could produce much louder sound while not sounding distorted. Dialog in particular is much easier for me to understand on high volume or low. Music sounds better. Games sound better. Videos and movies sound better. I'm still using the Energy Subwoofer with my Jamo's but I plan to replace that with a Jamo sub when it goes on sale. Only negative of the Jamo's compared to the Energy set is the speakers of the Jamo's are MUCH bigger in size. 2 to 4 times bigger. It was jarring at first. The Energy speakers blend in to their surroundings and aren't distracting or noticeable. I could tuck the satellite speakers into small spaces and they weren't an eyesore. The Jamo's look nice but demand more space and I literally had to completely rearrange my furniture setup to accommodate them.
TLDR
Jamo set seems better in every way accept for the Energy speakers being much more compact in size and coming with a Sub. Hopefully the Jamo's will have the longevity/quality as my Energy set. With all that said, the Energy set exceeded my expectations for over 7 years and are still going strong so not a bad choice but I would definitely recommend the Jamo's over it.
I connected both systems to an entry level Marantz NR1403 5.1 receiver for use

Personally I think the Energys sound better. But, if you already have a sub, you won't regret buying the Jamos either. They are both good for the price, depends on if you already have a sub or not.
