Worth it. Fun game but it's definitely a collectathon. Puzzles are good and many. Gameplay loop is fun and is familiar to anyone who's ever played a lego game. (as always watch a gameplay video if you're unsure)
there's a lot of game to be played here and a lot of silly gags for star wars fans
not a lot of replay value but frankly its more likely you get burned out collecting things instead of wanting to replay it
still an easy rec at this price
The main benefit to physical is resale value but you could also lose it, otherwise digital is more convenient.

Thanks OP. Just bought it for my kids. My youngest loves playing Lego Star Wars on my RetroPie but gets upset when there are issue with the emulator. This fixes the problem ๐
Anyone think this'll drop even more in the coming months? Terrible habit of buying games and just building up a backlog
I can't speak about switch prices but on Steam and Xbox most Lego titles eventually go on sale for 5 to 10 dollars. Even at 18 this is a good deal for the amount of content. If you are a 100%-er there's a ton of hours of gameplay.
Does this game have any actual playable DLC, or is it just "character packs?"
Paid DLC is just characters, afaik. However, they did release some FREE content updates including capital ships and maybe a sprinkle of extra characters as well (rogue one, mandalorian, maybe?).
We should be really happy that the paid DLC is basically cosmetic. The base game has TONS of content and is really solid as-is.
It was a solid purchase at $60 for me. It's a no-brainer at $18!

So my kids won't be missing out if I save the $7.50 on the DLC?

Nope. Not unless they got a real obsession with any of the new characters. There's already like 380 or so characters to pick from so I bet they'll be fine without.
My experience with Lego games on different consoles is that it is more frustrating to play the Switch version because of low framerate, especially in co-op mode. So, unless portability is important to you or Switch is your only console, I suggest waiting for a sale on one of the other editions. I haven't specifically compared it for this game, but I would expect the same.
The Switch Lego games I've played seem to hover in the 25-30 fps range, whereas PS4 holds up at 60fps.

so i should wait for a sale for the other editions and a sale for the console that goes with it.

I bought it for $50 near launch. No regrets. Put 40+ hours into it.
