Give it another month and it might hit $599. So many people upgraded their computers in 2020-22 that 2023 demand is at record lows even as production ramps up. CPU, RAM, SSD prices are all falling with no end in sight.

I low-key love builds like these for when you need to troubleshoot a GPU.

I think he's just trying to put things in perspective.

I got one of these on black friday. Works well. Runs linux lubuntu like a champ with wifi working, but doesn't come back from suspend.
Not a lot of room inside. Only has 2 ram slots, 16x2, and a disk slot. Runs quiet. Nice machine for playing with static diffusion and smaller language models

So was I; the perspective is that price requires a time machine to reproduce.
A lower price than this is practically guaranteed soon. Most people who wanted computers already bought them in 2020-2022 and now there is record low demand in 2023 even though production is way up because the computermakers ramped up production. Every week the prices go a little lower, and we're not even in recession yet. That's when you'll see even better deals. Buy if you need to do so right now, but computers are falling in price even faster than normal, so you could save a ton by waiting a while.

Nothing is guaranteed. Only taxes.

Technically true but argumentative, given how computer price-to-performance ratios have continually improved over the last 60+ years, and given current trends.

If you have any evidence that prices would somehow increase, let's hear it, else saying stuff like "nothing is guaranteed" is useless. You can say "the sun is not guaranteed to rise tomorrow," but chances are very high that the sun will rise and computer prices will keep falling.

Whoa whoa whoa this is the 1st world where we can't be troubled with learning new things

Been building PCs since the 90s and would wait for the new Microtimes on print to shop for parts..
