I'm gonna say this isn't what happened exactly because I see a random few that keep digging at this game Hivebusters was and still is awesome and multiplayer is even 120fps on consoles. This game is the perfect situation of people complain to complain and the story wasn't up their alley, which is fine. But for me and others it was one of the better stories in Gears besides Gears 2 and the books.

GoW Ragnarok (which was generally a bore fest) was the opposite for me as this game. Loved GoW 2018 (one of the best stories in gaming) and I dislike most other Gears stories EXCEPT Gears 5.

But at the end of the day everyone can say their opinion and no one is wrong.
Came out 3+ years ago and is on Game Pass, of course it's cheap now.
If the franchise was killed by one of its games, it would most certainly be "Gears of War Judgement" ...but to answer your questions, Yes it's good. It's actually very good, continuing the Epic story of the 4 amazing games before it. The Multi-player is still very much active to this day. Even the multi-player from the previous games has some activity for the nostalgia. And if you haven't played the full remake/remaster of the very first Gears game "Gears of War Ultimate Edition"....anyone a fan from the start will tell you your in for a treat! One of the better redone games I have ever played. And lastly, the only reason to even pay $4.99 would be to play it offline any time you want cause as of now, every single Gears of War game(1, 2, 3, Judgement, 4, 5 and even Tactics) is fully playable on Gamepass Ultimate. And seeing as it's a Xbox Exclusive, I don't see the franchise being removed from the service any time soon. DocWallabee7544 on Xbox any time you wanna get down on any Gears game!!

No thanks, not even if they were giving it away.

My buddy and I have a weekly couch co-op gaming night, and we went through all the Gears games over the course of a few months. He'd played them all extensively back in the day, but I'd never touched any of them. My thoughts:
  • For a person who prefers open world (or at least open area) to being locked on rails, Gears 5 was a breath of fresh air. The wind skiff was really fun/fluid, and I liked exploring for (optional) additional resources like components. If you love rails, this will probably be your least favorite Gears game.
  • The weapon/aiming feel is so much better than the previous games. I mentioned it within thirty seconds of starting the intro. This actually felt like a modern-ish shooter after 1-4 was pretty retro.
  • The story was...a Gears story? It's not like the storytelling in the series is on the level of Witcher, Fallout, etc. For me, Gears is more like Halo: lore is there if you want to dig on your own, but what is actually in the game is a basic shooter narrative framework.
  • I can't speak to online multiplayer since I have no interest in it.
It's worth mentioning that this and the Hivebusters DLC are both included in Game Pass.
