Seems REALLY ODD to place a power efficient processor with 16GB of RAM and a Gfx Card

Thinking the same thing. For my needs I might be better off to get one off of Dell's refurbished site.

That gpu is not for gaming and is meant to help the cpu…

Wonder how that gpu performs against the Ryzen igpu though… 🤔

Any advice if the USB type-c will connect to (power, and display) an external monitor for a two-monitor extended display?

Very misleading! Pictures here and on the eBay listing are of Inspiron 16 5000 series (model 5625), with nice aluminum finish. 16:10 display, 54Whr battery, and niceties like USB-C supporting Power Delivery and DisplayPort, and backlit keyboard. The actual product is the Inspiron 3525, made of all black plastic, USB-C is data only, 16:9 display, much inferior build quality, puny 41Whr battery, no backlit keyboard.

This Inspiron 5625 is a better deal in almost every way. Graphics performance will be lower than the MX550 but not really by enough to matter.

I have the Zenbook 14 with a Ryzen 5500u (Zen 2 6-core) and a GeForce MX450 2GB. When I disable the GeForce GPU most games that I play (Diablo 2 Res., Golf With Your Friends, Rocket League, etc) need significantly reduced settings at 1080p.

The iGPU on the 5500u is a Vega 7 which isn't bad for integrated gfx and is paired with 4266mhz ram, but the 450 is significantly faster. I'd assume the same for the 550 compared to the Vega 8 on the 5825u.

Save your money, ALWAYS PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO MODEL #s on DELL Machines!
For instance this is an Inspiron 3000 series, which is their lowest line or entry level laptops. They sell ones with lower specs, like pentium or celeron processors, 4GB ram and whatnot for round $200.. same chassis, just different components. Are you really wanting to spend $500+ on a $200 laptop? It feels extremely cheap, believe me don't make the mistake. Instead at least start with their Inspiron 5000 series, a bit of an upgrade, this is their mid tier level, but honestly if I was buying a Dell I'd shop for their 7000 series, it's like a cheaper XPS (their flagship), not w/ all the bell and whistles but enough and w/o the high price tag. If you can wait I'd wait for a deal on them. Screw these 3000 series, instant disappointment soon as you open the box..

It's a little weird to pair this entry level discrete GPU with the decent iGPU, but the MX550 is still probably twice as fast as the iGPU if not better. Still, for just a bit more than this price point you could just go with a Ryzen 6000 series CPU and get an iGPU equal or better than the MX550.

I bought this laptop as a gift for a friend. I tested it yesterday for the applications he will be using (light browsing with some photo editing) and it works great for that purpose. He's not a gamer so I didn't test any games. Performance is good, but the screen could be brighter, and the keyboard is not backlit.
