According to customer reports On Cloud shoes have the worst outsole durability of any athletic shoe brand. Worse than HOKA.

Can confirm. Usually with my Hoka Clifton 8s or Bondi 7 I can get almost 250 miles on them before having to get a new pair. However, with the ON Cloudmonster (same outsoles as this model but in a more cushioned shoe) I'm barely over 100 miles and the bottoms are almost all gone. The outsoles on these ON shoes don't last that long at all (especially compared to my Brooks Ghost 14 that has almost 400 miles on it before needing to be replaced).

I am New Balance guy (992 or 993) The shoe is incredible. very light, great traction, the step absorption was really good. The shoe looks much better in person and the orange color is pretty cool. For 74.85 I have no complaints.

I can confirm, I got the Cloud X in 2018 and just wearing them day to day to work and a jog once a week, by 2021 the outsoles had completely separated from the rest of the shoe. You could fold it over.

These look great but don't sacrifice fit and comfort over appearance. Wore one of these for months and ended up with severe foot pain. The cost of treatment would have been a multiple of the cost of the shoe.

2-3 years of daily wear is a good life span for a running shoe.

So if you are a Hoka "fan" (as I am) I can tell you these run true to size (10.5 = 10.5 in regular width). They are very comfortable out of the box and most importantly have a comfortable toe-box which is key for me personally, and why I wear Hoka.

I am good with these for an around the house/everyday wear shoe. Color is close to my Flyers Orange (LOL!) so its got that going for it even thought the Flyers stink...

Not sure if I'll run in these given the mixed reviews and the fact that I'm happy with my Hoka Mach 4 as a running shoe....

At $75 I'm happy with the purchase

My experience is exact opposite. I run in them for my recovery days. Because of the rocker I cannot stand walking in them -- which is good because it's keeps me from quitting early. Haha. But seriously, that's why I don't care what color they are because I'll never wear them outside of running.
I want to pop in here to mention that the recent research on fitness shows that low to moderate cardio activity such as walking is healthier than high intensity exercise such as running.

https://link.springer.com/article...20%5B29%5D.

Quoting the study:

"Paradoxically, excessive doses of high-intensity endurance exercise have been linked to cardiac remodeling, myocardial fibrosis, arrhythmias and increased coronary artery calcification (CAC)"

Not sure what that has to do with my post, but OK. The positive cardio benefits of a brisk walk for a healthy person is hardly a recent clinical discovery though.

I only mentioned it because you were forcing yourself to run when walking is actually more beneficial than running for extended periods. Early Hunter Gather humans walked 6-8 miles per day. They would only run for short spurts when hunting pray for the kill.

The link between cardiac remodeling and high intensity exercise is recent in the sense that it's only been in the last 10-15 that it has been accepted by the medical community. I think it was Dr James O'Keefe that brought attention to this relationship.

Bottom line, is don't force yourself to run a crap load of running milage.

I can validate this statement. I have had 3 pairs of On Cloud shoes and they wear and tear prematurely. I'm talking, 2 months and I have worn holes in them where the bend occurs, laces have literally torn apart, and separation of materials.
They have a serious quality issue.

I love my On Clouds. I go through one pair a year. I use them for pretty much everything including 6-7 mile trail runs, walking around cities, traveling, work. I don't wear mine out especially quickly. However, I bought these and they are effing hideous. Returning.

You read it wrong then. I was being tongue in cheek. If my body says I'm done for the day Im done for the day. Forcing does nothing except invite injury. I enjoy running though. That doesn't mean I don't go for long walks too.
