2x2 5G. The non 6E version is more practical, but that one doesn't go on "sale".

They're effectively the same unit, its just MSI is promoting 6G as some kind of advantage when there's next to no client's.

Anyway. AXE11000 @ 350 is solid, but you can be more effective with your money else where. Router prices fell off the face of the earth..

AX86U PRO (new gen2 hardware) has been as low as 225.

Hi, which router would be a more cost effective tri-band set up?

Router and all tech prices should fall off the face of the earth because we are about to see the economy go into the dumpster. Hold off on ANY purchases if you can as we are likely to see prices only get better over the next 12months.

if you're wondering if you need this, you don't. routers from 2010 output max speeds from most ISPs. if you need more than 400 mbps just hardwire Ethernet

From MSI? or in general?

That's false. The benefit of higher end routers is MIMO config and throughput at distance. A router from 2010 (Niche 3x3 5G N? Not many existed FYI, most were 2.4G still until AC in 2013.. off the top of my head, 4th gen Airport Extreme from Apple rings a bell for 5G support) wont even push over 200mbps at any reasonable distance due to max power output being significantly lower back in the day. 250mW output vs modern 1W limit via unii1-3. 6ghz doesn't solve this either as most products have regressed due to EMI concerns.

Close range? Sure, but there are so many nuances involved with WIFI to generalize. You have to look into AC class anyway.. which was 2013..

Still weak by modern standards due to power output being low and internal CPU's not being able to process high speed natively w/o acceleration lol.

Edit: Not all routers perform similarly either.. even sharing high MIMO config (generally a config such as 4x4 is still better than lower MIMO though). Can be environmental to a large extent. Example: I purchased a couple GT-AX6000 and they underperform in my home, when lower and AC and alt gen 1 AX hardware can match and exceed throughput at range per similar devices.
