Cheaper, but not higher performance. Looking at the youtube benchmark comparison videos, most games are 5-10% faster on the 6600xt. TDP of the 6600xt is also 160 watts versus 225 watts for the 5700xt. I've been looking at used 5700xt on ebay and its hard to get one for $150-160, which to me would be a good price based on performance and higher watts of the older gen.

sorry, should be more clear, 30 day average was what i used. i checked today to confirm and it is indeed in that range but trending down
you took EACH item, right? Seller, normal guy usually selling 1 own card, sometimes a few.
I'm talking about when pro miners sell a LOT GPUs, for example I seen last weeks: 1) $130 fixed price and 2) $140 with "best offer".
If you want 5700 XT, keep looking deals like this, will be more and more, because for $188 you can get used 6600 or even 6600XT.

for example,
$140 (with "Best offer") - 58 sold https://www.ebay.com/itm/374513084942
$120 - 14 sold https://www.ebay.com/itm/37451310...5732b871d3
just last weeks, don't see $130 item, may be listing was deleted
miners selling GPU at lower price and a lot.

Prices close to $200 - stupid, because new 6600 card cost $220 or this 6600 XT - $230 and used cost $170-$200.

Sellers of one own 5700 XT think "I paid a lot for my card crazy price at COVID and I want as much as possible back". Good luck to them.

i missed out. wish i got in on that, but it might be a once in a while thing and not just a constant barrage of $140 cards. the average card sold the last few days is still in the 170ish i
t looks

EDIT: it looks like it was just that one seller was underselling the cards at $120-$140 because he just wanted them gone. i dont see anymore miners dumping cards

I seen some other sellers for sure, this was just saved in my eBay account so I found it easy.
My point $170-$190 for used 5700 XT is ridiculous, I see even biggest prices but so what?
It's just mean a lot if sellers still try to get more than it really cost. Covid/mining is gone, all changed. They can try to sell it and even some buyers will buy it, but slowly and not so much.
And believe me, if you want cheap 5700 XT - will be more and more at low prices. Put alert on eBay.
I don't want it more, 1st Gen RDNA have issues with black/green screen, it's all after mining.
So it's very stupid to spend a lot of money on it.
$170-$190 for heavily used in mining 5700 XT? No way. $130 - may be if you OK with issues, not $170-$190.
Better to pay $230 with rebate and get new 6600 XT, 2nd gen RDNA with warranty in this topic.

I looked at those bulk miner listings (among many others) and decided to pass since I wanted something in decent shape for my younger brother. There were several common annoying issues I spotted with similar listings:
- Rust/corrosion (as noted and shown). Longevity is likely going to be iffy.
- Short return periods (14-30 days)
- Return policies that state buyer pays return shipping, even in case of issues (I reached out and asked to confirm)
- GPU flashed with mining bios. More tedious work to prep for gaming. Also means they didn't test with stock bios on regular workloads (gaming, windows, light productivity).

Everyone should make their own call, but I decided it wasn't worth the extra risk and/or lost time to save a few bucks. I ended up getting a refurbished RX 5700 XT directly from Asus for $175 last year that came with 90 day warranty and free return shipping. Pristine condition as well. It was that or another RX 6600 XT for ~$250 at the time.

Almost all used 5700 XT after mining. And 1st Gen RDNA has knows issues with green/black screen. And lack of some features of 2nd Gen, shortest drivers support. (BTW only 8GB memory)
So RX 6600 XT looking better. Or even Intel Arc (new A750 for $250 in this case or may be open box for $200 in Microcenter) if you you are ready for some issues, they improve drivers.

I mentioned in a previous post, I already purchased an RX 6600 XT for myself and the RX 5700 XT (ASUS direct, refurbished) for my younger brother. I also previously used an RX 5500 for a while when I had little time for games and just needed a cheap GPU for display.

I have no idea what you mean by "shortest drivers support". All of our RX 5000 and 6000 series GPUs have been getting regular driver updates. The 8GB of VRAM is pretty standard at this price point so I don't see an issue here for the mass market of 1080p gamers. You'd have to pay about $350+ to get more VRAM on an RTX 3060, RX 6700 XT etc. Given the RTX 3060's weak performance, it was never a consideration though. The real issue with VRAM is when you go up to something like the RTX 3070/Ti and still only get 8GB of VRAM for 1440p.

For now - yes. For future - support for 5000 series will be ended earlier.
(And 6000 series have little bit more features)

If only games, only 1080p, only next 1-2 years - 8GB is so-so -ysh.
But for some kind of work or 1440p gaming VRAM is very important.
$300 used 6700 XT 12GB or Intel Arc A770 16GB will be more interesting for work or 1440p gaming than this $250 6600 XT.
