I don't think the number provided when purchasing this deal is tied to the sim. There is probably a default number instead that can be overridden when porting in from another carrier.

This is just from me trying their trial sims before and it came with a default number. That sim had the option to port in another number and replace the default one, so I think this 6 month plan sim might just be the same and that porting in will just extend that length to 12 months.
These SIMs do not come with a temp number, you have to port in. That being said, it is not tied to you at all and there should be no risk in selling it or giving it away to a stranger. As long as they port in within 45 days, they'll get 12 months. If they don't port, they get nothing.

Have u received a 12month plan or 6 month plan?
The SIM may say 6 months but they've been coded in the system as 12, as long as you port in a number.

Looking to dump a few of the 4gb sim plans, where and how much you guys getting selling them for?
Make sure you are clear to the buyer that they must port a number in within 45 days or you will have some angry people after you. These SIMs appear to have been coded to require a port, no option to use it as a 6 month SIM with new number ($3 google voice number solves that though).

For those that have received the phone... what's the deal with porting your phone number? I plan on not using the service unless port is required. I'll get a burner number if porting is required.
If you don't plan to use the service, you don't need to worry about porting.

If you want the 12 months of service, pay the $3 to port a google voice number to mint.

Do you see an option to activate the SIM with a brand new phone number, or does it only give an option to port in an existing number from a different carrier?
Others have reported that these SIMs have been coded to require a port. Only costs $3 to port a google voice number and then you'll get the 12 months.

So far we have multiple confirmation when activate the SIM card and the "12-month" plan, mint mobile activation site will force you to port-in phone number in order to complete the activation of the 12-month plan. There is no option to get a new phone number during the activation process.

Ordered on 3/3 @9:10pm CT and I got the tracking number today 3/8 around 10pm CT! According to FedEx it should arrive on 3/10 before 3pm CT.

I called the customer service earlier this afternoon to get an update and the representative told me that they were out of stock and that they didn't know when they would get back in stock, so he offered a full refund. Hopefully I did not accept the refund and waited instead! Then I went to SD to check the comments to realize that I did well and should wait. And indeed, if you can wait then wait until you get the tracking number or the official cancellation. Don't trust the customer service, they don't know nothing. Always check SD comments instead.
Thanks to SD community!!

Ordered at 10:30PM CT on Friday 3/3 and still no tracking number on the order status page. Starting to get a little worried it will get cancelled, which I really hope it doesn't because we got this phone/plan as my son's first phone and he would be SO STOKED to get it.

Hopefully we will see some more movement today for those of us still waiting!

Thanks!

If I port out a google voice number, would I be able to get a new google voice number afterwards, using the same landline for the verification that I had used for the first google voice number?

Fully unlocked. An awesome deal even if you throw away the plan.
Got mine in the mail today. Don't plan on using Mint as the carrier, so can I just put my SIM card in and be good to go? If I wanted to use the plan that came with it, could I potentially put this new SIM card into another phone? Anyone know? tia
