Agreed that the sugar alcohols aren't my favorite because of digestive upset some experience (me included but as nausea), but the idea of them being linked to cardiac events was more of a clickbait headline that everyone used (per usual) rather than what the study actually said. Worth looking into the research as every well-educated nutritionist I follow (I'm a personal trainer and try and stay on top of this stuff) says the headlines are extremely misleading.

While I haven't read the study, I've read some criticism of it and especially the reporting on it.

My understanding is the study found a link between erythritol levels in the blood and risk for heart disease. The population looked at were very sick people and they did not look at if the patients had consumed erythritol (erythritol is produced by the body in small amounts).

Doesn't hurt to be cautious and keep and eye on new research.
