EPIC!
I prefer Steam. It would have been great if it was.
Ditto!

As someone who loved the first Red Dead Redemption, I loathed the mainline story and missions. It felt like a rail shooter at times, cause God forbid you take a slight detour than what they intended, or you pause to pick up loot on more than 2 bodies. FAILED. Get used to that if you like open world games.
Exploring and playing around outside of missions is excellent however. Worth the price of the game alone.
Forgive my ignorance but which game does not punish foropen world exploration? RD 2, correct?

Confused as to what game you played, as I went and looted every body there was and only got yelled at. Or you didn't finish the prologue, which is locked down. After that you can go anywhere you want and do side quests.

What's wrong with Epic? The client is snappy and less bloated and the download speeds are faster. I know it's sucks to have 2 different launchers and Steam has "first mover" advantage so most of my stuff is there, but now that Epic has all these free games, I find myself using Epic more and more and being thoroughly impressed.

the launcher is egregiously bad and just never really improved enough from its initial janky state. tencent. exclusives. anti-consumer. does it even have friends list or community stuff yet?

Steamdeck inaccessibility. Some games are okay but games this large you'll need the precached shaders that only steam provides.
I felt the same way as you. But having a steamdeck it meant having to buy steam only games especially the AAA ones.

Epic feels slower than Steam. And there's the rumor it belongs to the communists who scan your hard drive. Might be just that a rumor but if Gaben did it he's still American.
And Epic doesn't let you organize your games like hide some u don't play.

Seamless Steam Link integration, Steam Deck, snappier UI.
I really wanted to give this game a shot.. it felt so boring after its predecessor… more like a western simulator. Played for a month and went into the uninstall bucket. What a shame I really tried, especially after playing RD1.
