With how long it takes to bring an instant pot to pressure, I am not too sure I would ever use it to steam vegetable. Am I missing something on why I would purchase this? I am pretty new to instant pot cooking, hence my honest question.

This is also useful for separating items in the pot or transferring them (I used it for potatoes a bunch, for example), or in my case, when I was using my instant pot for sanitizing my baby bottles and pump stuff, it kept the smaller pieces from falling through.

But I'll be honest, I use the mesh metal steamer baskets a lot more (especially since I have the air fryer lid), and I basically never use this anymore.

Got it for $6.65 back in 2021. Can confirm, never used it.

How do you wash food grade silicone and avoid it tasting like the things you cooked it with - or even it tasting like soap after washing? Have had a silicone ice tray that persists with making soapy tasting ice cubes... Despite numerous washes

Why are you washing an ice tray with soap?

Open up the pores with some very hot water and rinse well.
Next option is to soak in vinegar water 50/50 mix.

Broccoli, 1 cup water, low pressure, time 0 minutes, quick release.

Hot dogs (beef or sausage), 1 cup water, high pressure, time 0 minutes, quick release.
FROZEN Hot dogs (beef or sausage), 1 cup water, high pressure, time 2 minutes, quick release.

Potatoes, halved or quartered, 1 cup water, high pressure, time 0-5 minutes (less if quartered, more if halved; potato variety plays a factor), quick release.

Carrots, 1 cup water, high pressure, time 0 minutes (more depending how 'al dente' you like them), quick release.

As other have stated eggs, artichokes too.
Thanks!

All electric pressure cookers also have a Steam function which you'd use with the pressure valve Open. Basically, it just boils the water without holding the steam in so it never pressurizes.

There are some vegetables that you can pressure cook (and not merely steam). Kale, for example, tenderizes perfectly when pressure cooked for 3-5 minutes.

This basket is also useful to hold a roast or eggs at that you can easily remove the food.

Finally, it looks useful for making broth. I make bone broth all the time (1-4 hrs in the pressure cooker vs 12-24hrs on the stove -- the time is needed to literally melt the bones). Putting the bones in this basket before submerging in water allows me to remove the bones instantly from the broth.

If it's metal, it'll be fine even at 600-800F+.

My biggest complaint on that it's tough to hand wash because it's floppy. That said, most steamed foods won't leave any grease or residues.
