I had a shock collar for my dog. Everyone gave me grief for it. After I let them try it and showed them how to use it everyone purchased one. By the way I only shocked my dog once when he ran into the street. I just use the beep function and I can walk miles with him by my side without a leash
That's not a problem with the collar, that's a problem with it's owner. Proper training and consistency is paramount in getting the results you're wanting. Just pressing the button and expecting the dog to know what your wanting him to do (or not do) is not how it works.

Theae eufy dog training collars are onsale better price than last front page deal.
Enjoy!
I have a small chihuahua and look for an effective training tool to stop her from barking and biting. They said it is for medium and large dogs, but some reviews mentioned on small dogs too. Any expert dog owners experience?

I suggest adding the brand name and a price to your thread title. If you need help, let me know exactly what you want added and I can add it for you. Smilie

I guess $20 isn't bad for a "name brand" (which lots of SDers react to negatively these days), but there are loads of these types of collars for < $20 on Amazon.

I got one of these for $20 it's one of the better dog collars I've purchased and honestly is a steal for 20 bucks. Very few of the shock collars affect my dog in any way but this one does.

Can this hurt or traumatize the dog?

I have this, got it for $40 back in Nov 2021. It has worked well for my dog, charge is long, we use it while she goes out, then take it off. She responds so well to the beep and buzz that we've rarely needed to use the zap except a few times she's booked it after neighborhood cats and squirrels.

The auto shutoff "feature" after 12 hours makes this nearly unusable for me. Any time I need to correct barking, the collar is off and I've missed my chance.

I get that there would be an auto shutoff, but 12 hours is just way too short.

ETA I rarely have used the shock setting and have tested it on myself at every level of shock that I have used to understand the pain. With that said, the beep and buzz feature have a far better effect on my dogs anyways!

I've never had a dog that wouldn't stop barking... Until now. I'm desperate. Gonna try this. Hoping to avoid shock.

The sound activated vibration function on another brand of these was enough to stop my Aussie's fear aggression barking after a few weeks.
