Fyi, this is SJTW. Thermoplastic is a pita when temps are cold.
It's probably not the wire, but the plug ends that are the weak link here.
Even the MSRP price for a 10 gauge 50 footer seems pretty cheap

I needed to hook an RV up at a house the 30 Amp style plug, the RV had 10AWG factory, so I figured I would stick with that.

I went to HomeDepot - they wanted nearly $300 for ~50 ft of 10 AWG 3 conductor cable. I said WTF? LOL, NO!

I went to Harbor Freight and got what I think is this same exact cord, cut the ends off, put the ends I needed on, it's been running that RV just fine every since.

I paid ~$70 in early December for it, this is a good deal.

If you have 30a load the 10ga wire is only good for about 15ft.

Yep, for 30A RV load:

up to 25 feet: 10-gauge wire
25-50 feet: 8-gauge wire
50-100 feet: 6-gauge wire
more than 100 feet: 4-gauge wire

Also, 10ga wire is only recommended if the total load your RV is pulling is 20A or less. And a lot of that is depending if your RV is running air conditioning or not. Go with 8 minimum for an RV.

Probably aluminum wire. 15 amp for 10 gauge is super low.

You cannot draw continuous breaker rated amps on any breaker or it will eventually trip. Constant draw should never be more than 80% of breaker rating and that is pushing it.

It is used lightly. It basically runs the absorption cooling refrigerator and keeps the batteries charged. It did run a very small space heater a bit in the winter to keep the thing above freezing, but it was on a thermostat and was set for about 50 F.

Nah it's cool - the RV isn't being actively lived in, and even when someone does sleep in it it's got minimal use. In fact the OTHER cord, the 15 amp one, is good enough to keep the thing going for current use, but I like to use the bigger one just to be on the safe side. The front AC only works on the 30Amp and the rear only works on the 15, you have to have both plugged in to use both.

I may not be by the book - but I'm not stupid about it either.

Not worth the extra hassle of handling 10GA cable over 12GA if you can only use it for the same current.

10/3 gauge wire just for 15A load? 14 gauge is aplenty

It's probably not the wire, but the plug ends that are the weak link here.
I would agree. The plugs are the limiter here, a 10 guage cord will have lower losses and better voltage at the end of the cord. The odd thing is that the 20A version uses (pretty much) the same contacts but rotates one of the pins to signify it is 20A rated. The 20A pins are a bit more robust but you will find some 15A cords with better plugs than cheaper 20A cords.
This has a NEMA 5-15P male plug on one end and the triple tap has three NEMA 5-15R female receptacles on the other end. NEMA 5-15 caps out at 15 amps so there's no way for them to rate this any higher than that, regardless of the materials/construction of the wires/plugs/insulation.

I have the same one but 25ft, got for $35 about 2 years ago at Home Depot. I mainly got it for use with my 120v welder and angle grinder inside and outside of the garage. I can obviously only use one at a time technically and physically but it works great for getting power to both closer to my project. It is a little unwieldy to roll up and layout but being 10 gauge and the price no complaints. I have a 100ft 10 gauge SOOW wire extension but not lugging that 50+ pound thing out unless I have to.

aside from all the bickering and nitpicking... 10 gauge wire will have less voltage drop than a 12 gauge wire regardless of the overall rating of the cord as a whole.

I have seen RV take-off plugs that have the RV style 30 amp on one side and a whole bunch of 15's on the other - that makes sense.

I have also seen one that plugs into an RV 50 amp plug and has a whole bunch of 15's on the other labeled as L1 and L2 plugs.

There's some good stuff out there, but you usually have to pay for it.
